The neighborhood
Borgo Vanchiglia is one of the historic districts of Turin, today among the most dynamic, trendiest and fashionable, located between the northeast border of the historic city center and the confluence of the Po and Dora Riparia rivers .
The favorable central position, and the proximity to the University Campus of Turin, have led, both Borgo Vanchiglia and Vanchiglietta, to a gradual transformation into residential districts mainly attended by young people.
In recent years, Borgo Vanchiglia has established itself as one of the propulsive poles of Turin's artistic and commercial creativity. The artisan shops, still present, have been joined by different artistic-cultural realities of different ambit, such as architecture, design, sculpture, painting, theater, music, cinema.
The district is quite popular nowadays because being quite closer to the heart of Turin nightlife Piazza Vittorio Veneto, many bars and restaurants opened recently in this area..
Very pleasant in the summer, this area is very lively, full of restaurants, cafes, clubs, cinemas, theaters, bookshops, boutiques, art galleries, vintage shops .... The streets are particularly lively in the evening and during the weekend when the locals stay open late.
For those who love nature it is very pleasant to walk along the river Po or choose between the different itineraries immersed in the nature that the Turin hillside offers.

Getting around
The area is very well connected to the other districts of Turin.
Travelling from Caselle airport : you can take the shuttle bus every 15/20 minutes directly to Porta Nuova or Porta Susa railway; taking 45 minutes.
From there it’s only 10-15 minutes by bus to reach the apartment.
If you like cycling, there is a public bike rent very close, just to the corner between Via Napione and Corso San Maurizio.

Monuments and places of interest
-Notable church in Borgo Vanchiglia is the French neo-Gothic Chiesa di Santa Giulia situated into Piazza Santa Giulia also used as a market area. Here you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables from local producers.
-A notable and unusual building in the area is the so-called "Fetta di Polenta" (literally: "polenta slice"), formerly known as Casa Scaccabarozzi. This building is located at the intersection of Corso San Maurizio and Via Giulia di Barolo, and it is one of the most peculiar examples of Turin architecture: a thin trapezoid 27 meters wide on Via Giulia Di Barolo, 5 meters on Corso San Maurizio and just 0.70 meters wide on the topposite end. It was designed in 1840 by Alessandro Antonelli for his wife, Francesca Scaccabarozzi
-Other notable buildings is the the “Teatro della Caduta” , opened in 2003 in Via Michele Buniva 23, which with its 45 seats is the smallest theater in Turin and among the smallest theatres in Europe.
-To see is the new modern Faculty of Law building (Campus "Luigi Einaudi"), designed by the architect Norman Foster. This building was classified by the American television company CNN among the 10 most spectacular university buildings in the world.
-One of the most famous vanchigliesi was certainly Fred Buscaglione, whose home was in the popular via Bava, at number 26 bis, in which the lyricist Leo Chiosso also lived
-The artist and painter Carol Rama lived in Via Napione until her death in 2015 in Casa Napione, now home to the Carol Rama Archive.
-Another unmissable destination is the Casa Carlo Mollino Museum, the great designer, interior designer, writer, architect and photographer but also skier, motorist and aircraft pilot, born in the early twentieth century in Turin and author, among the others, of the restructuring of the Teatro Regio and the realization of the Auditorium Rai and of the Chamber of Commerce of the Savoy city.
