This beautiful log chalet is located just a few minutes walk to the ski lifts of Fernie Alpine Resort with ski to the door convenience. Log beds, pine floor, and woodburning fireplace add to the charm of our Black Bear Chalet. In fact, we adopted a stuffed black bear from Fernie Mountain while we were building our home and he is still present as the keeper of our chalet.
Our chalet is ideal for large families or groups who love to cook and socialize around our large kitchen table, built by one of the owners. Large decks off the kitchen and great room, a propane barbecue, and a commercial hot tub aid to the enjoyment of the secluded property. A fire pit overlooks the lake at the back of the property, giving you a back to nature feel. It truly is a little piece of Canadian paradise!
The property also has a basement suite, occupied by long term tenants. The basement suite has a completely separate entrance to ensure privacy for our chalet guests. The basement tenants can be used as a resource for local dining and activity recommendations.

This is the third time our family has stayed at this chalet. It is an excellent choice for winter and summer stays. The layout and location make it perfect for family gatherings with skiing, biking and hiking all close by.
Worked perfectly for our family get together. We love the mountains and this place was gorgeous. A few little maintenance hiccups but overall great stay!

This chalet is stunning with space for everyone in a large group. We appreciated the amount of bedrooms with bathrooms for each, and a nice large kitchen and living room gathering space. We had a wonderful time here as a home base for our family reunion.
Great ski lodge! Cozy.
5 minute walk to the lifts/village.
Only issue was not being able to control the hot tub temperature… it was too hot to use unfortunately.
Everything else was great!
We LOVED this place! So warm and inviting! Owner was super quick with her responses when we contacted her. Short little walk to the hill was icing on the cake! Have already put in request for rental for next ski season! Thanks for the great hospitality, Lana!

Such a perfect mountainside ski holiday!
Upon arriving to the Black Bear Chalet we were immediately impressed with its rustic, cozy charm. Bedroom accommodations were quite comfortable and well-kept, large kitchen was great for cooking meals, entertaining and the fireplace was a nice touch with plenty of good firewood. Our favourite part was the short walk to the ski hill and the hot tub nestled underneath the cedars apres ski. Lana was awesome to deal with and we would definitely recommend this property.

Wonderful
Our week long stay in Black Bear Chalet was great. The location was perfect with great snow on the mountain and an easy drive into Fernie. There was a very pleasant ambience about the chalet, with the log structure, the fire place and the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and cooking implements and the BBQ was very handy. Our four grown children met us there and we each took a turn cooking the evening meal. It was a fun way to share our time together. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Very nice log cabin fairly close to the lifts. Host was great at communicating with us. Price a bit high for the area, but enough beds for 6 men without spouses. Common area was spacious with well stocked kitchen.
The chalet was just perfect for our family get-together. We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious kitchen and outdoor decks and of course the BBQ! Many fond memories were made!
Beautiful cabin! Lots of room for our large group. Kitchen was loaded with all you need to cook. Great location. Host was very good & communication was great!
Fantastic log cabin, located just minutes away from the lift. Big rooms, lots of bathrooms, this absolutely sleeps as many as it claims. Perfect place for a mountain bike vacation with family. Would return for another stay, 100%
Celebrated a 70th birthday with family. House was perfect for us.. Lots of space, great kitchen and eating area. Location was great for kids to hike and bike. Lots of amenities close by. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Host was great to work with and available when needed. Would definitely consider staying here again next year.
We loved our family reunion at Black Bear Chalet! The Chalet was beautiful and perfect for our family group of 14 and 2 pups! I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a cozy mountain getaway! The Chalet was well stocked with everything you need for a large group including kitchen accessories, abundance of towels and plenty of firewood for the fireplace and outdoor firepit. Lana was quick to reply to our email request to park our trailer at the Chalet for the weekend. The Chalet had a well cared for feel, very cozy and comfortable. The hot tub and outdoor firepit offered wonderful additions to the weekend activities. I recommend Black Bear Chalet as the perfect place to create lasting family memories.
Enjoyed our stay at this chalet. I have rented a few of these properties and this one is among the best. Very comfortable
and would recommend this property for a group.

Why they chose this property
As avid skiiers, we first fell in love with Fernie because of the DEEP powder snow in the winter season. Later, we learned Fernie is a great place to be all year around - skiing, snowboarding, ski-doing, hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, and of course, golf!
