About this property

Cabin by the Creek - Log Cabin, Fire Pit

Take a Red River dirt road through the Aspens and past the teepees to this fully restored 1940’s Cabin by the Creek. A 4×4 vehicle and possibly snow chains will be necessary to access our Cabin by the Creek property during the winter season. Enjoy the quiet mountain atmosphere down by the creek as you sway side to side in the hammock.

Located off a dirt road 2.75 miles up Bittercreek Trail, this two bedroom one bathroom cabin welcomes groups of up to 6 with its southern charm and old-fashion decor. Spend a long weekend in this log cabin and you’ll take a trip back in time to the good ol’ days at your gramma’s house. Start your morning off with a cup of coffee on the oversized deck that overlooks the creek and the yard with a hammock, picnic table and fire pit, and a horse shoe pit. Check out the lower deck where you are immersed in nature among the beautiful aspens, close to the sounds of the mountain creek. If you’re lucky, you might even see some of the local wildlife stopping by to say “hello”.

Both bedrooms have full-size beds, and there is a loft with a twin bed and a twin trundle. There is one full bathroom with a shower and a 1890s clawfoot bathtub. Also included is a full kitchen with all the basic cookware, even a waffle iron, and a microwave, but no dishwasher. This cabin has a Tv with a DvD/VcR player for watching movies, no cable. Books, toys and games are provided for the kids. It has both a wood-burning and a gas log fireplace. Propane grill included. For winter guests, chains and/or a 4Wheel Drive vehicle is Required. The cabin is 2.75 miles up a rocky, uneven, dirt mountain road. It has High Speed WiFi access but no satellite TV. The High Speed WiFi make it a good choice for those who work remotely. No trailer parking. No Washer/Dryer. This property has a total of 850 square feet. Well water contains a high mineral content and is not advisable to drink. Rodent and bad stay
After driving for 5 and half hours we arrived at the beautiful cabin in the woods and we looked forward to a great 4 days. After exploring we started unloading and went into the bedroom. That is where we found rodent feces on the bed on the floor, and a chair. I then took the clothes out of the closet and my wife moved the trash can that had purposely been placed on top of hole in the floor the rodents were using to gain entry . We called reservations unlimited they told us they did not have anyone to take care of these matters so we should come back to the office and look at other properties. None of the properties matched the Cabin or the setting we had reserved but they took us to a room in town that was worse than an old motel 6. They said come back in the morning and we will find you something better. Next morning we went and they said they were cleaning a property that they texted us about later the night before. It looked nice so we agreed. They said they would call us when it was ready. About 12:40pm they called and said there was another problem, the property had a foul odor like something died in the wall and there were yellow jackets at the cabin. We had a meal at Texas Reds and a bug crawled across my wife's plate, so we told them we were done and we were going home. They said they were going to refund everything but the first night, but we haven't seen that yet . So overall a very bad experience and it still cost us over 300 dollars to stay in a very bad place. VRBO, Red River, and Reservations unlimited are off our list.
