4 Season Boathouse on Hay Bay

Welcome to The Boathouse on The Bay. A comfortable 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom boathouse with a full kitchen and living room overlooking Hay Bay. This 4 season boathouse accommodates up to 5 guests (six guests with pre-approval).

The Boathouse on the Bay is ideally located 2.5 hrs east of Toronto and 2.5 hours south of Ottawa. From the boathouse you're only 40 minutes to the Prince Edward County region, 40 minutes to Kingston and 40 minutes to Belleville. You'll enjoy endless sites and activities in the surrounding areas, including Napanee; only 15 minutes from the boathouse.

No need to pack bed linens or bath towels; we provide you with everything you'll need.

The newly renovated kitchen offers all the comforts of home and is fully equipped with all the cooking and serving pieces you'll need. You'll enjoy all new appliances as well as dual serve coffee maker offering single serve or carafe settings. We also supply coffee, including coffee pods and tea. For your convenience, the kitchen is stocked with basic cooking oils and basic spices. You can expand your cooking experience to the outdoors with the use of the propane BBQ on the boathouse deck.

Relax in the comfortable living room that includes a smart TV with satellite cable, Netflix and WIFI access.

With a southern exposure you’ll enjoy the sun and the breeze on your private deck overlooking the water. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the shoreline and the use of 6 kayaks. The Bay is crystal clear and perfect for swimming. As the water is quite shallow, it supports the growth of water grasses which will brush your legs in the water and we recommend water shoes as it is pebbly underfoot. Guests can take advantage of a designated pebble beach area for lounging by the water and gathering by a bonfire in the evening.

We are dog friendly! Your pup is welcome to run off leash on the property. We kindly ask you to encourage your dog to stay off the furniture and beds and we remind you to bring their favourite blanket or dog bed for their comfort. We have a limit of 2 dog guests and apply a pet fee of $10.00/day.

Enjoy a relaxing getaway and take advantage of the surrounding sites and activities:
• Hay Bay is a premier fishing destination, for both open water and ice fishing, and is home to largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, perch, pike/walleye and lake trout. A public boat launch is conveniently located 2 lots down. Once launched you are welcome to tie your boat at the Boathouse and park your trailer.
• Prince Edward County Wine Region. A 30-minute country drive to the Glenora Ferry delivers you into Picton. This charming town is known for great shopping, art culture and boasts several breweries and wineries to tour.
• Golf. Napanee Golf and Country Club is located less than 15 minutes from the Boathouse. With several golf courses within 30 minutes you can spend your day on the course and return to enjoy a relaxing evening on your lakeside deck.
• Hiking and biking trails. Lennox and Addington County Trails include 12 well marked trails offering easy, moderate and challenging rides.

Excellent vacation destination

Very clean and comfortable 3 bedroom boathouse in pictures location. It’s equipped with everything you need for perfect vacation. Owners Lisa & Glen near by if you need them, but not intrusive. Great place for a long stay or short gate away. Dog friendly. Looking forward to next visit.

Peace and Tranquillity

A perfect spot to enjoy while touring the area, visiting with friends or just to relax and catch up with yourself. Beautiful surroundings, inspiring and peaceful views, comfortable beds and all that one needs to feel at home when you are away. Hosts were delightful, welcoming and available if needed. Cottage interior

The cottage is nice and well-stocked. Outside ground is well-maintained. Bedrooms are a good size and very comfortable. The owners were friendly and quick to respond to our questions. The downside we found is that it needs a bit more TLC as far as cleanliness, for ex the windows, sills and doors inside and out. The kitchen shelving was dusty, and cobwebs found on fixtures and walls.

An idyllic place, a fantastic stay

The Boathouse is amazing. Inside it is very comfortable. A lot of attention has been paid to the small details and touches. The views from the deck and by the water are stunning. The pictures shown on the listing truly reflect this beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, from swimming, kayaking, fishing and the various games on the lawn as well. Lisa and Glen are wonderful hosts, as is their dog Moose. Our dogs certainly enjoyed playing with him also. It is a special place. We will be coming back for sure!

Relaxing Boating Adventure

The boathouse was a perfect location to bring our 20 ft open bow boat. It fit perfectly in the boat slip with the outboard tilted up a bit. Very well protected from the swells of a nasty west wind one day. Probably a bit shallow for an I/O boat. Easy boat ramp 2 doors down. Glenn and Lisa were FABULOUS hosts. Was an easy 45 min to Kingston and Gananoque. Super peaceful and relaxing. Had everything we needed. Would book again in a heartbeat

Excellent stay with stellar views of the lake

My husband and I had another great stay at the Boathouse on the lake!! This is our second time and we just love coming back. We received a warm welcome from the owners Lisa and Glen and their dog Moose. The Boathouse cottage is very clean, beautifully decorated and just so cozy! The large windows in the living room and kitchen and the private balcony, provide magnificent views of Hay Bay. The Boathouse is in a great location to explore Prince Edward County. We finally got to visit Sandbanks. Lisa and Glen, thanks for your being amazing hosts and taking such good care of us. We are looking forward to returning next year!!

Glen and Lisa are amazing people that clearly love their property and go out of their way to ensure that you love it too! Fantastic and will recommend it to others

The amenities listed in the ad for the boathouse is why we selected it and we certainly were not disappointed. We went kayaking in an amazing piece of water with lots of natural wonders to explore. We found great on road and off road bike trails in the surrounding areas to explore as well. It was a short scenic drive to Picton and Kingston and had fun taking in the historical areas of both these communities. The boathouse was an amazing place to stay looking over the waters edge. It was fresh clean and welcoming with everything you could need or want. Our hosts were helpful and friendly offering wonderful treats from their garden. I certainly plan to recommend this place to friends and family. Thank you for offering to share thiis piece of heven with others..

Girls Getaway - Three old friends reconnect and rejuvenate on the water

This property is exactly as it appears in the photos and description. My two female friends of over 45 years and I always plan a yearly extended weekend getaway to explore a new area in Canada. We settled this year on the Napanee Boathouse. Our hosts were amazing. They communicated promptly to answer our questions prior to our visit and with their dog Moose, were there to personally welcome us when we arrived. The boathouse is well appointed with all the kitchen stuff you need, comfy throw blankets to cuddle under while watching TV or sitting on the deck with a coffee in October, and high end furnishings. The beds were comfortable, and bedding and towels were luxurious. They thoughtfully provided a binder of ideas on things to do in the area and welcomed us with a lovely personal card and tub of yummy treats like chips, chocolate, local wine, candy, and popcorn. Kinda like our late night mini-bar, but without all the surcharges. While in the area, we took advantage of the Extended Kingston Penitentiary Tour, and this was extremely engaging even for non-history buffs. One night, we enjoyed a gourmet dinner and acoustic music on the patio at the Waterfront River Pub and Terrace in Napanee - I would highly recommend this excellent restaurant. The ambience was incredible, and to enjoy a lovely warm evening in mid-October on a patio by a river with twinkling lights in the trees and waterfall sounds nearby was an incredible treat. We also enjoyed a day of shopping on the main street in nearby Picton. This town is filled with many boutiques featuring local artisans and it is a lovely walk to explore their unique offerings. The rain held off for us at every stop, even though the forecast was not good - so we felt truly blessed to enjoy this wonderful time. I think the Boathouse is an excellent choice to use as a home base to explore Kingston and Prince Edward County. We will definitely consider going back in the future. We feel invigorated and relaxed after our weekend and we have Lisa and Glen and Moose and their amazing property to thank for this!

We recently spent a few nights at this cottage and had a mixed experience. On one hand, the hosts were super friendly and welcoming, even leaving a basket of goodies for us when we arrived. The cottage itself was cozy, beautifully decorated, well-maintained, and stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay.On the other hand, we were really disappointed with the water, which was the main reason we chose this spot. Based on other reviews, we were expecting clean, swimmable water for us and our pup to enjoy. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. The entire shoreline was covered in a thick pile of seaweed that stretched across the beachfront and gave off an unpleasant smell. I tried to clear some of it myself so we could get into the water, but it was just too heavy to move. We were told it would be cleaned up, but nothing changed during our stay, which meant we couldn’t swim or enjoy the water at all. This was a real letdown, since relaxing by and swimming in the water was the whole reason for our trip. In the end, we had to drive to Sandbanks just to enjoy a proper beach day.We also happened to be there during a heatwave, so not being able to cool off in the bay made things worse. While the cottage has AC, the window unit wasn’t strong enough to cool the entire space.All in all, while the cottage and hosts were lovely, the waterfront situation—and lack of follow-through on cleanup—made it hard for us to fully enjoy our stay.

Beautiful and quiet location on Hay Bay. If you want to relax and get away from the rat race, then this is the place. The Boat House is wonderfully decorated and modernized. Great deck with a bbq overlooking the Bay. The owners Lisa and Glen are fantastic people. Highly recommend it.

Fun on Hay Bay

The Boat house was the perfect choice for a family vacation. The house is beautiful. So much fun Paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing were all excellent. We traveled with our dogs who give it 10/10 paws up. Highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind

The Boat House was perfect for our long weekend getaway. The hosts are so friendly and professional, they made the stay very easy. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well appointed, the view of the bay from the living room is so peaceful. We couldn't asked for anything more! Thank you for a great stay.
