About this property

Our Getaway is located about 1.85 miles from Rockport Beach and 1.2 miles from the Heritage District where you'll find shopping for souvenirs, art, jewelry and furniture to name just a few types of shops. Need to take a break from shopping? Drop into a restaurant or club for a bite to eat or for a cold refreshing drink.

Our Getaway is nestled among several live oak trees which shade a winding driveway up to the house. The home is decorated in true Rockport fashion of coastal and nautical themes. Walls in the living and dining rooms are adorned with paintings of a well-known local artist. Several other paintings can be found throughout the house by the same artist. All his paintings depict sea life or beach fun and were painted especially for this home to provide an ambience of fun and relaxation.

Our Getaway can accommodate 8 people. There are three bedrooms and a sofa/futon which makes out into a full-size bed.

The house is laid out with an open floor plan. The kitchen has a long counter that separates it from the living and dining room. This layout offers great interaction among a group of family or friends.

Should you opt for a soft breeze under the shade of the live oak trees, escape to the backyard through double glass doors from the living room. Enjoy a morning cup of Joe on the patio; or, enjoy a cold beverage while grilling. The beautifully landscaped yard provides a quiet and peaceful environment for entertaining family and friends.

No surprises. We got what we wanted.

I was visiting family and this place was perfect. Easy check-in. Very clean, and all of the beds were comfortable. The stove works but the burner drip pans dont fit and it causes pans to sit on a slope. Love how everything is labeled. A toaster would be nice. Everything else is there, so I could have missed the toaster. The open floor plan is small, but my family is close and likes to spend time playing games and hanging out together. This was perfect for that. Great backyard. The dogs enjoyed it. I would stay here again.

Great Rockport property!

Spacious house, with the amenities you'll want for your stay. Rockport is a great place that puts you close to Port A and Corpus. Everything works well in the house, and it's a really quiet area.

Awesome place

Wr loved this property. Grilled every nite on their big propane grill. The house spacious. Bedrooms comfy and bathrooms spacious. The kitchen perfect for two cooks. My dog loved the back room for exploring and visit with neighbor dogs. We stayed 4 nites visited the beaches, shops and family members at other Vaca homes. Had dinner at Paradise Key the last nite there. Beautiful weather and cool breeze under the shady backyard. I will rent again.

Nice Home

It was a nice tidy house. I really never had communication with the property owner. I sent a message when I booked asking about the number of pets allowed and she took a while to respond. I was surprised because most of the reviews listed her as very responsive. We ended not taking our pets for other reasons. I never received a welcome or a hope you enjoyed your stay message. And I would’ve given it a higher rating except that the night before we left we got a good scare! The door bell rang at 4:30 in the morning followed by loud knocks! I woke up my husband and we looked out the window because we couldn’t go see by the door since it’s one of those doors that have frosted glass in the middle of it and the guy would’ve been able to see us. After a few more knocks he left and we saw him walking down the driveway and onto the street. The back door is a glass sliding door and after that I couldn’t go back to sleep and did not feel safe. I’m glad it was our last bday because I don’t know if I would’ve stayed another night.

We currently live in central Texas. I'm a native Texan and Kevin moved to Texas in 1980 from Mississippi. We have been married 33 years and have 5 children. We moved to central Texas from Sugarland, TX about 30 years ago. We purchased a small farm, built a log home and raised our children there. When our youngest child moved away from home, I retired from teaching. We sold our home and the farm; and, we have been traveling with Kevin's job since then.

Why they chose this property

We plan to retire in Rockport. In preparation for our retirement, we purchased a modest home in a quiet, friendly neighborhood and close to activities in Rockport. We enjoy hosting gatherings for family and friends at our home. However, due to Kevin's job, we are away most of the year and decided we could share our home with others while we are away. Also, we prefer staying at private homes rather than hotels/motels and want to offer this option to other travelers.

What makes this property unique

We purchased this house because it is located just outside the city limits of Rockport; yet, within 2 miles of the Heritage District, several restaurants and the Rockport Beach. The open floor plan is condusive to entertaining or for just enjoying the company of everyone in the living area, dining area, and kitchen simultaneously. The double glass doors offer a beautiful view of the patio and fenced landscaped yard. Two baths are always convenient. Three bedrooms provide generous private quarters for folks of all ages. And, the construction of the house makes it sound-proof to outside noise such as traffic and lawn mowing. Loud music or parties may be heard; but, we have not experienced that in our neighborhood.
