Beautiful house and grounds

The house was beautiful, well equipped for a large group, had a wonderful swimming pool and numerous games. The kitchen worked very well and we ate dinners at a large outdoor table that seated all 14 of us. The proprietors were extremely welcoming and helpful in finding food, places to go and activities for children. The grounds were large and gorgeous.

A memorable family holiday

We had a wonderful week in this spacious home. The extensive well maintained grounds meant there was plenty of room for the 13 of us - grandparents, parents and 7 grandchildren. Our mini Olympics made use of every part of the garden, from archery to table tennis, badminton, football, and of course a swimming race in the large pool. For those less athletic there was always the shade of a tree and a chair to read a book. We ate outside on the long table every day, and in the evening there was plenty of room for us all to sit in the lounge and play games or catch up on the "real" Olympics. We explored the surrounding area - Carcassonne, a medieval festival in Mazeres, Foix, white water rafting and the underground river. Thank you Anne and Jacques for sharing your home with us.

Grand house with magnificent grounds

We stayed here for a week in July, and would have loved to stay longer. Anne and Jacques were most helpful and friendly (Anne speaks good English.) The house, built in the 1980s, is spacious and of an attractive faded elegance, with large airy bedrooms and bathrooms (and excellent roomy showers). We ate mostly on the terrace, which is great, but there is equally room for a dozen people to eat comfortably in the kitchen, or in the dining room (which we didn't need to use.) The ktchen and dining room have a huge amount of crockery, cutlery, cooking equipment, pans, etc., which was initially a little confusing; we picked out the things we needed to use and left everything else alone. The dishwasher is really designed for washing glasses, and we found it best to wash crockery and cutlery by hand, in spite of Anne's advice. There is a very large comfortable sitting-room. The house needs to be treated with respect (not walking on the fine wooden floors with wet feet, for instance), and it is full of the hosts' personal possessions; but this didn't bother us. The grounds are vast and beautiful, with fine old trees dotted around offering shade in the often very hot sun. The pool is well equipped and beautifully arranged; it gave us a great deal of pleasure. We also enjoyed the petanques pitch - there are enough boules for five or six people to play; and we all had great fun playing badminton. The nearest baker is in Saverdun (6 mins. by car); Intermarche Super 10 mins.

Accueil et domaine très agréable

L'accueil des hôtes et le domaine sont très agréables pour passer de très bonnes vacances en famille et/ou amis. Le domaine est très bien entretenu (notamment la piscine) et les hôtes sont totalement disponibles pour répondre à toutes questions touristiques et logistiques tout en vous laissant l'impression d'être totalement chez vous. Idéal !
