Casey’s Island Oasis is ready to Welcome You and Yours! We do require a Friday- Friday reservation due to limited cleaner availability. This amazing private island includes a 4000-sf cabin with incredible lake views from every window! 6 Bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 well stocked kitchens, Finish Sauna on the water's edge, sandy beach, 2 paddle boards, 2 kayaks and great fishing!

Bad Medicine Lake has crystal clear water and continues to be voted the #1 swimming lake in Minnesota! Enjoy the amazing Finish Sauna right on the water's edge. Included is a large parking area on shore for cars and a boat trailer or two. We have a pontoon available for rent for $500 for the week. The boat ride from the Landing to the Island only takes about 4 minutes. Your best vacation ever is Casey’s Island Oasis!

We've had the island since 1959. Just bring what you want to eat, drink and wear, everything else is there! Thank you for your interest in Casey's Island Oasis!
Check-in time is 4:30 on Friday and Checkout is at 10:30am.

Wonderful Stay!

Well equipped house on a quaint private island. Owner was very responsive. We had 5 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of room. We would definitely stay here again!

Island Vacation

Love this Island getaway. We rented our own pontoon from R&R rentals. Paddle boards and kayaks are provided from renters. Comfy beds, pantry full of essentials and spices. You really just need to bring food, beverages and clothes. Internet was good and I was able to work half days. Loved sauna and fire pit. Wonderful memories nade with our kids and grandchildren. Fishing was great! We will be back.

Drop dead gorgeous lake without the jammed, crowded lake houses so many other Minnesota lakes offer. Unique island location. The sauna was immensely popular with everyone. Special feeling to float in the lake at night after the sauna experience. Armada of toys and games kept the young ones engaged. Kayaks and paddle boards. Two fridges were ever so helpful when you have a party of 12 as we did. Communication with the host was lightning-fast and friendly. The island is a magnet for fish. Overall, a special adventure that our family will long remember.

We enjoyed so many aspects of our family vacation on the Island! First, we were on an Island! on the most beautiful lake we've ever encountered. We enjoyed the sauna, lake toys and spending family time together. Two frigs is a bonus! Rikka was responsive in handling any concerns that came up and we would love to return to the Island some day. I would ask about Finicky Freida, the pontoon is basically just a vehicle to transport items from the landing to the Island. I am fortunate to have a handy Motor-knowing hubby who could manage the outboard quirks...but, it would be really challenging for a novice. Rikka said they would be looking into retiring her... I would ask if the issues have been addressed before renting it. But if you just want to get your items to and front the Island...this will work. Overall, it was a fabulous week and I would recommend this experience. We loved the lake, nature, are attractions and experience! Also, a Friday to Friday stay was nice as it gave us the weekend to regroup and head back to the grind.

Beautiful Island Views!

We have our own cabin on Bad Medicine, but rented the island to have room for everyone attending our family reunion. The island is exactly as described, although there are actually 6 bedrooms instead of 4. There were so many amazing places to take in the beautiful lake views...decks, docks, hammock, and every room in the cabin has a lake view. Our group enjoyed swimming in the clear, clean waters of Bad Medicine, one of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota. We caught rainbow trout, visited nearby Itasca State Park, and enjoyed the both sunrise and sunset views. Highly recommend staying here for a relaxing, peaceful getaway.

Beautiful island escape

The island is absolutely beautiful and the lake is stunning - clear and clean blue-green water, perfect for swimming and kayaking. The house was comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed - a grill, refrigerator, w/d, spices, tv. The sauna, fire-pit, hammock, and two docks were so nice. We watched the sun rise and set each morning from the docks. It was totally serene. We rented the pontoon and it was so easy (and an adventure!) to go from shore to the island. Can't recommend highly enough!

My father and mother, Randolph (Casey) and Loraine Jones were pioneers to say the least. On their first visit to Bad Medicine in 1957 they fell in love with the island. Dad called the county to find out who owned it and they didn't know. He then tracked it through the Minnesota government and then through the Pentagon. The Department of Interior researched for many months and then found a document from the 1850's that all islands on the reservation were the property of the Ojibwe Tribe. My dad then contacted the Chief in Mahnomen, MN. The Chief was please to have this new found land and granted my family a 100 year lease. In 2003 we completed a land trade with the Tribe and now own the island.
