SUMMARY
Fabulous old town Lagos apartment with a unique Moroccan garden for sunbathing, eating and BBQ. Cool & stylish inside, quiet ceiling fans and just 1 minute from bars, restaurants, clubs and only a few minutes walk to the best beaches in Europe.

THE SPACE
Casinha Alegrias (The Happy House) is a unique apartment in Lagos Old Town (car not needed). It has a fabulous Moroccan courtyard garden, ideal for chilling, sunbathing, eating and BBQ´ing great fresh fish and meats from the local market (5-minute walk). The Casinha has just been renovated in the romantic Moorish style with stylish antique furniture and decor, also with super quiet ceiling fans for those warm Lagos evenings. Very quiet at night and the garden is beautifully illuminated for a truly romantic stay in one of Lagos´s finest locations.

GUEST ACCESS
You will have the whole apartment and garden to yourselves for the whole stay.

PLEASE NOTE: Arrivals any day after 9pm and anytime on Sunday or bank holidays are subject to a Meet & Greet fee of 50€ payable in cash to our local property managers when checking in.

PARKING
Although street parking is technically possible (subject to availability), due to the narrowness of the street, WE STRONGLY ADVISE using one of the two public parking lots within 150m of the apartment.

WIFI
Free wifi is available throughout the apartment and patio.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
Our property managers, Destination Algarve, are located in central Lagos. They will do a "meet & greet" upon your arrival and are always available for any problems that may arise during your stay. We leave a Lagos information pack for you with all of the best local recommendations for eating, drinking, shopping, tours and beaches.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Lagos Old Town is a charming and historical area, yet within 5-10 minutes walk from some of Europe´s best beaches. 400 bars, restaurants and cafe´s, great clubs, and quirky shops await you...our guests come back year after year after they have fallen in love with Lagos

GETTING AROUND
Excellent buses to all tourist points in Portugal and Spain. The train from Faro terminates at Lagos. Easy and cheap car rentals from Luz Car in Lagos and taxi´s are available 24 hours at the local taxi rank.

HOUSE RULES
The apartment and the garden are very strictly non-smoking. The apartment is very romantic and therefore only suitable for couples without children, no noisy surfers or late clubbers, as our street is a typical Portuguese old town street, it is quiet at night, so no loud parties or music after 11pm.

A little paradise

Perfectly located in the old town with a wonderful peaceful private garden. The kitchen is well equipped for those wanting to cook meals. This is our #1 choice to escape our Canadian winters.

We enjoyed our stay here. The location was excellent and had the weather been a little warmer we would have used the outdoor space more. One thing to note, if you’re on the tall side (my husband is 6’2”) you may find the foot board on the bed uncomfortable.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and well appointed apartment. Located in a quiet side street in the old town, we were only a 5 minute walk from the Pracas and not much longer a walk from the beaches. The private garden was as beautiful as the images show. We will be returning!

Perfect place to stay in Lagos!

Our home for 10 days in Lagos was functional, beautifully decorated, and centrally located. We felt at home the minute we walked in the door; the casinha was well appointed with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. What raised all of this to another level was the outside terrace/patio: you would have to see this bit of paradise to understand! We will be back!

Loved the location in the heart of the old town. We were able to get around easily and to the beaches etc. without a car - using local buses. Valerie and Randy left a book of best restaurants, bakery etc. The property provided everything we needed - wi fi, tv, back yard, washer etc. The magic was the garden.

Great location.

This apartment is situated in an ideal location within the old Lagos city walls. It is an easy 2-3 minute walk to all restaurants & shops in the beautiful old city of Lagos. The apartment is small, but is okay for 2 people. Although the bed was advertised as "Queen", it is in fact a double bed, but comfortable with very nice linens. We found it difficult to get warm from the small portable heaters in the cool nights when we were there the end of February to mid March.

The house was fine but for the cost I would expect more I’m afraid I know it says ceiling fans but this house needs air con as the weather was exceptionally hot and the fans were pretty useless I also felt the decoration was a bit dark. I suppose I’m being picky, we enjoyed our stay but I feel it needs updating and lightened up the bed was small and there was a thick duvet on it I would expect in summer there should’ve been a 2 tog or very light duvet it’s all about attention to detail and I am fussy.also we only had a bath towel and hand towel each I did wash them but could’ve done with a few extra towels.

Très joli appartement, et tellement bien situé!

Et que dire de la cour intérieure, tout simplement magnifique! Cet appartement jouis d'un emplacement idéal, située à quelques pas du centre de Lagos, elle est d'autre part juste assez éloignée pour qu'on puisse bénéficier de calme et tranquillité. Un logement en centre ville idéal

Le logement de Valérie et Randy est vraiment bien placé et très agréable. J’y ai séjourné deux semaines et je m’y suis beaucoup plu. La Casinha est très bien équipée et bien placée. De plus, les propriétaires ont laissé des informations très précieuses pour la vie de tous les jours pendant le séjour. Je recommande sans hésitation!

Perfect Loacation

This apartment is the perfect place to explore Lagos. You literally have everything at your doorstep while still being situated on a quiet street. The apartment has everything you could possibly need from beach chairs and umbrellas to shampoo! The patio garden is so beautiful - a little oasis. Everything was spotlessly clean. Kleines Paradies in Lagos

Die sehr schöne Ferienwohnung am Rande der Altstadt ist perfekt gelegen. Ruhig, aber in wenigen Schritten mitten im Geschehen. Die Zimmer sind sehr geschmackvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet, die Küche hat alles was man braucht und der Innenhof, bzw. Garten ist ein kleines Paradies.

This is an excellently located apartment within the old walls of Lagos. The first floor apartment is well provisioned and the company that looks after the apartment is always available,even providing a second set of keys when requested. The street itself is peaceful unless construction is going on. Because it was winter we did not get to use the beautiful terrace that often but it is certainly lovely. There are many excellent places to eat and the cliff walks are fabulous. We had a car so we could take interesting day trips to surrounding places. Lagos itself is a great place for a base to explore. We really enjoyed the apartment but because it was winter we found the apartment damp and poorly lit and we really needed the heaters provided. We also found the double bed too small for comfort but realize a bigger bed would not fit into the space. The biggest challenge for us was the ambient noise of the other residents especially the person above us who walked around in heavy shoes starting at 8:00 am. The acoustic properties of the building allow televisions and family noise from the other 3 apartments to encroach on the natural tranquility of the apartment. The love and care for the apartment by the owners is apparent.

Sehr hübsche Wohnung, ideal gelegen. Die Innenstadt ist fußläufig gut zu erkunden, zum Stadtstrand nur 10 min. Fußweg. Jede Menge gute Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe. Ein riesiger Parkplatz befindet sich um die Ecke, sodass parken kein Problem war. Die Wohnung war absolut sauber und gepflegt genauso wie der Außenbereich. Wir sind überaus freundlich empfangen worden, obwohl wir erst gegen 22Uhr angereist sind. Einziges Manko, was nicht in die Bewertung einfließt, sind die Möwen mit ihrem Geschrei. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt und gehört, dort scheint es aber normal zu sein.

This was the perfect property for what we wanted. Old town centre and lots to do.

We like that in a private apartment you can sleep in without room service or banging doors of hotel rooms. This apartment was really in the ideal location to all amenities. The old town feel was perfect. Within yards you have a beautiful coffee shop and small market. It's about 150 yards to the Main Street were all restaurants and shops are. It is about 5 minutes walk to the beach. We drove to other places within 30 minutes of Lagos but found Lagos had the best to offer.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this area a couple years ago and decided to look for a property that provided the best that the area has to offer. And then we found Casinha Alegrias. Located on a quiet side street in the heart of the old town and historic center of Lagos, it is an oasis of tranquility with its centerpiece Moroccan-inspired garden and patio, yet just a stone's through away from an amazing array of restaurants, bars and shops. Some of the finest beaches in Europe are only a 10-15 walk away and the majestic Costa Vincentina is but a magnificent 30-minute drive away, with its wide open spaces that attract surfers, hikers and sunbathers alike.

What makes this property unique

The apartment was completely renovated in 2015, with additional improvements since then. The apartment is contemporary yet cozy. The outdoor living space is the highlight of the property, perfect for lounging on a sunny afternoon or enjoying a romantic al fresco dinner at night.
