About this property

Catch & Release; Fishing Pond, Creek, FIOS Wifi Internet, Secluded

Catch & Release observes all protocols according to TN state and local laws and Federal directives regarding cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and disinfectant guidelines. We use EPA-registered household disinfectants that ensure every guest is protected.

CATCH & RELEASE is located on 4 SECLUDED, CREEKSIDE, WOODED acres in the Shagbark gated community. We are three minutes from our clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis court. This cabin has WIRELESS HIGH-SPEED INTERNET, 2 gas fireplaces, 2 KING bedrooms each with TV & DVD and separate receivers, 1 QUEEN bedroom with private bath, and updated bathrooms. All linens are provided and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking family meals. The loft has a POOL TABLE, which has views of the flat-screen TV in the living room and the pond. There is a good selection of board games; Checkers, Chess, Apples to Apples, and Backgammon for those rainy days or fun nights. We have a 40 DVD movie collection for those days our guests want to just hang out at Catch & Release. We will be adding to it each season. We added a whole house Generac Generator for those storms that take down trees. You will always have power!

The dramatic 30’ vaulted rock fireplace wall has a 42' FLAT SCREEN TV with SURROUND SOUND and DVD. The new THEATER/FAMILY/GAME room has a 48” FLAT SCREEN TV and DVD, bamboo hardwood floors, Foosball & Checker tables, glass walls looking into the fishing pond and the backyard creek, and all leather furniture. The 5-ton zoned Air Conditioning and Heating system is energy efficient and meets government specifications for GREEN buildings. Our new bathroom products are from Concept Amenities, an Australian soap company whose soaps are in 5-star European hotels. The bath gel, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion are biodegradable and environmentally sensitive. We love our environment and know that you do too. This is why you vacation in the Smoky Mountains.

The backyard creek runs under the house into a large FISHING POND in the front yard, which has Goldfish, We had Catfish and Brim but heavy rains washed them over the small dam. We applied to restock the pond. You can fish from the front deck in the pond, The goldfish love the kids and the kids love the goldfish. Please bring your fishing poles. We request that you CATCH & RELEASE ONLY.

The pond fountain automatically turns on to enjoy your morning coffee and turns off in the evening. It is off in the winter months. The CREEKSIDE HOT TUB is in the moss-covered backyard and in an enclosed porch in case of rain. The Hot Tub is emptied and refilled before each guest's arrival per the Tennessee Department of Health Regulations. This is the most peaceful vacation home you will ever visit. It is tucked amongst the trees and early in the morning, WILD TURKEYS come to drink at the edge of the pond, and the occasional bear drifts by to bathe with her cubs.

There are new bamboo floors, slate countertops, appliances, area carpets, a washer-dryer, and amazing landscaping in the front yard with a dry creek bed in stone, large boulders, and a RESIDENT TURTLE. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES. KIDS LOVE IT!!!

Birthday get away

We had a REALLY great time!! We enjoyed playing games, the hot tub and walk in the woods. It was very enchanting!! The place was very big and would be wonderful for a big group. It was very nice and clean. The gold fish were very pretty. However, it is definitely nothing that we would fish for to "catch and release" as we enjoyed sitting on the porch watching them. (That is why I put 3 stars for the "Accuracy of online listing". EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing!!!Thank you for letting us stay there!

Much needed secluded vacation rental

The property is as described, quiet, and secluded. The pool table was definitely an added bonus for my husband and my daughter. Sandra was on top of everything with communication and information! The house is the perfect distance from everything especially if you don't like to be right in the middle of Pigeon Forge and all the people and traffic. Definitely a great vacation and highly recommend this house.

Amazing Place to Stay

We had a relaxing and fun stay in the Smoky Mountains thanks to this beautiful home! We saw bears on the hill and an owl came down to fish with my husband. We saw a raccoon, snakes, turkeys and the kids caught a ton of fish. My teens loved the busy areas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Everything about the house was perfect. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you for renting out your vacation home.

Nice house

Our trip was a rushed trip for a dance competition. We arrived around midnight and took the wrong entrance to the loop so the house was a little difficult to find the first time. The house was very nice and clean. We didn’t have time to really get to enjoy the pond or to just it and relax. We would definitely consider staying here again when we have more time to just relax.

A peaceful place to relax.

This was our first cabin rental and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place for our family! The cabin was clean and easy to access. We were in the middle of the woods but still close to everything. There was plenty of things at our cabin to keep the whole family busy…games, movies, football and pool. The pond was a bonus for our 6 year old. He enjoyed feeding the goldfish as well as fishing for them. It was peaceful. We would stay here again.

Lovely secluded spot

We so enjoyed how private this cabin was. It is in a development but far from neighbors. The location was perfect for us as we had good access to going into the park the back way through Townsend or Wears Valley to beat some traffic. The screened back porch with hot tub was lovey. We didn’t do any fishing, but we did feed the fish a few times from the vending machine. Our son loved it, several pretty goldfish.

Amazing Family Memories

Such a welcoming and peaceful environment upon arrival, which only continues when you enter the home. Very clean and well maintained. Very comfortable for our party of 4 adults and 2 children ( age 2 and 3). Kitchen well equipped. Everything you need for great memories and a great vacation. We enjoyed fishing the pond and getting to see wildlife including the mama bear and two cubs. Enjoyed multiple evenings in the hot tub.....all positive things and the list goes on and on. Very kind and helpful owner, even security at the gate was very nice. Our new favorite place in Tennessee, that we hope to book again!

Wonderful

When we got to the cabin the first thing we all noticed was the landscaping was beautiful. When we went inside everyone loved the sunroom if we wouldnt have had to sleep I think we would have stayed in there. It's a very lovely cabin spacious and comfortable would definatly stay again. The only 2 things we didn't like were when you turned the stovetop on low it heated up like it was on high and we actually set the fire alarm off because on 3 setting french toast was smoking the other thing we didn't like was the fridge freezer would frost up and then like it was defrosting be wet inside.

Relaxing Mountain Vacation

Great location and views. Plenty to do in the house and property to keep you entertained and relaxed. We tried our hand at fishing but didn’t catch anything but we did see plenty of gold fish. The hot tub was relaxing with a lush backdrop and mountain stream soundtrack. Their was a cute grocery nearby where we were able to get all the supplies we needed and some extra treats for our stay. The excitement of our trip was seeing a bear taking a quick dip in the pond. So take the bear warnings seriously! We tried to stay out of the main tourist areas due to horrible traffic but if wanting to their are tons of restaurants and sites to see. Owner was easy to work with and basic amenities were provided.

Off the beaten path

Cute home. Some things could use a little updating but good for our stay. The mountain trek was scary if you aren’t used to that sort of drive and they are working on a home nearby so it can be a little rough from the transition from paved to rocky back to paved. We enjoyed the fireplaces- boy do they heat up the place. Beds were comfy and lots of linens. Kids enjoyed the goldfish pond (feeding and fishing). The food container didn’t work so we bought some in town (30min drive). Bummed we didn’t see any bears or wildlife, but we also followed the rules and made sure not to attract them. Hubs and kids explored the property and got to twiddle some dead tree limbs from knives they forged in town. Had a wonderful time overall.

Beautiful property and home

Outstanding property that is perfect for families. Home is incredibly clean and immaculate. Beds are extremely comfortable with soft linens. One area that is not highlighted is this house has two living areas. This is perfect for families with teens or adult children (like us). One area to note is try to go to this property in the day time. Your GPS will probably lead you on the paved road which leads you to the back of the property. This route is extremely difficult to navigate and difficult to enter the property. Follow the written instructions that you will be provided by the owner and the last turn will be made to a gravel road. Our cars made it easily and we entered easily onto the property. This is a great property and would recommend it.

We had such a great time! Host Sandra made sure we had everything we needed to get in and the email communication on directions, property and all was great. Played pool, enjoyed hot tub, grilled burgers and steaks and really had great downtime with my kids 21, 16, and 10. Just what we needed! Put away the electronics and talked, played board games, fished in the pond out front, went horseback riding, and the mountain coasters nearby. Thanks Sandra and team for making it a great holiday weekend. Kids loved it too. Only negative? That we didn’t get to see a bear!

I am an interior designer and writer with published books. Catch & Release is a work in progress for me as I continue to change the interiors and update the amenities. Because I am in the design industry I continually buy new products for Catch & Release. It is a place of serenity and peace surrounded by nature, small critters, and the changing seasons.

I am also a breast cancer survivor and the founder of LESLIE'S WEEK, A Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer Nonprofit. Our Nonprofit sends Stage 4 Breast Cancer women and their families on "Vacations Away from Cancer" where they make Memories that Outlast Cancer. Catch & Release is used throughout the year to host Stage 4 Breast Cancer families. For many of our families, this is the last vacation they will have with their children and husbands.

Why they chose this property

Catch & Release is within an 8 hour or less driving distance of 80% of the US population. It is easy to get to via the interstate road systems. My cottage is located in a gated community whose 24 hour manned security center is there to log you in, provide directions, answer questions and provide assistance to you and your family.

Even though it is secluded in the mountains, it is within 10 minutes of the center of all the activity in the Smoky Mountains. There is Dollywood, 4 golf courses, fishing, winter skiing in Gatlinburg, outlet shopping, a variety of kid entertainment and rides, and many affordable restaurants. There is no place like it and it is a wonderful place to have a family vacation. When you drive into Pigeon Forge the Welcome Center has free coupons to offer each traveler so they may take advantage of the many discounts offered to families.

What makes this property unique

Catch & Release is built over a creek which feeds into a fishing pond with a fountain in the front yard pond and within a decorative landscape. The cottage sits on 3.8 acres and is surrounded by a forest, whose small critters come by to inspect the guests from time to time. The mornings are wonderful when the fountain comes on. You sit and drink your coffee and listen to the soft sound of the splashing water. We added a whole house Generac Generator for those storms that take down trees. If you are looking for interior comfort, an immaculate property, serenity, comfort, and activity beyond your dreams - Catch & Release is the place to find it. We upgrade the interiors every year so it will be different every time you return! Come on over!
