The house was welcoming and perfect for our stay in Racine. We enjoyed the garden and yard. The weather was super so we also loved sitting out on the porch. The house was clean and we lacked nothing. The location was great, close to family living on the north side. Also close to the zoo and the beach. We took walks along the beach walkways. We hope to be back next summer !
This is a charming home in a pleasant neighborhood. Access was uncomplicated, everything was as advertised. Free on-street parking was easy to find right in front of the house. The home was clean and well supplied. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Communication with the host was excellent. I would seek out this property for our next visit.
Adorable house. Very clean and organized. We didn't cook while we were here- try out Olde Madrid- but just about anything you need to make meals. Glad for the coffee maker- try Wilson's Coffee and Tea. Andrea was great responding to my questions. Our dog loved going from one bedroom to the next through the closet. Be careful with the banisters for the porch they are a little wobbly. There is a blue binder that has some information. The Wifi address needs to be updated and we couldn't figure out the TV--but we were visiting my 85 year old mother and didn't spend much time watching TV. We will definitely stay here again when we come up to visit Mom. And besides the restaurants mentioned above- for breakfast-- The Maple Table and Meli Cafe. One of our best VRBO stays. Thank you Andrea for making this such a great stay!
This is a very nice well-maintained house. We really liked the fenced in yard especially. Everything about it was just right for us. We needed a place to stay for a few nights while we are in town visiting and it needed to be pet friendly. It was a win on all accounts.
We had a fantastic time staying here! Location was great for our beach/sailing escape. Clean, cozy, well appointed, exactly as described online. It was so nice to have a fenced yard for our dog (who loves swimming in Lake Michigan, and one of the reasons we frequently visit the area). The snacks and coffee were a nice touch and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
Andrea was a great host; we had a few hiccups, but we worked through them together! So close to North and Zoo Beach that I could walk 4-5 miles each day!
Kitchen had all the dinnerware and pots/pans necessary for cooking! Futon sofa was comfortable to watch TV each night!
Would stay here again.
Great location, walking distance to lake and zoo. Quiet safe feeling neighborhood.
The place is thoughtfully equipped with anything you need. Plenty of room for a family. Next time I hope to bring the grandkids.
The host is a great communicator, left ideas about water to eat etc.
Definitely recommend!
We couldn’t have asked for a better location to enjoy a weekend in Racine. A quick 3 minute walk to the beach, easy parking, an inviting and cozy house to spend our lazy mornings and evenings in. We hope to come again!
Absolutely perfect! Loved our stay, place
Perfect for our family and our fur baby.
Walk outside and walk to North Beach. A little piece of heaven. Thank you Wisconsin!
Absolutely wonderful home and so close to the beach! Andrea was the best host and communicated with us before, during and after our stay. The home is a historic home with so much charm and love, you can feel it. It had all the amenities we needed, plus more! The porch was wonderful for our morning coffee. It was in a great location and we walked to the beach. We truly wished we could've stayed longer and hope to come back again soon! Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4.5 stars rounded up to 5 for the purposes of this site. We came here with our two children, one 5yo and one baby. The location was great, we even found an amazing huge park about a 20 minute walk away in addition to the smaller park 5 minutes away. The cottage was so charming. Beach was close by and not super busy. There is a small crib provided but our baby didn't like it and preferred the one we brought. It is an older house and we had trouble getting the bedroom doors to latch without a lot of loud jiggling, which can be annoying when you are trying not to wake kids. Overall it was a lovely stay and we hope to be back.
The stay was Perfect!!
Amazing 5 day 4 Night bucket list of a long weekend. With a Full plate of Events that we attended the ease of travel to and from Milwaukee & Chicago was a breeze. I will say Racine is Amazing. Our morning walks to the beach, cup of coffee and cribbage games on the porch were the perfect start to the days. Such and easy place to rest your head with a “make yourself @ home” type of feel from the the moment we arrived at the door.
Andrea was more than accommodating and very easy to communicate with right from the start.
Andrea allowed us to add a guest, unexpected during the original booking, to the trip just a few weeks prior. (No added expense, no complications, simply just a Yes, that’s not a problem at all).
All in all, 100% we would absolutely come back to this home. I have yet to find anything I didn’t love about the Area and unexpectedly everything it has to offer!
Thank You Andrea!
Upon arrival to the home, we were unable to get into the home since we were not able to get in - we were not provided an access code as the reservation stated. At first glance things seemed alright, but after spending a bit of time there, we realized it was not as stated in the ad. We were also surprised to arrive and see a man working in the yard. He said he lives down the road but that he had a key to the garage if we needed to wait in there until we got a code to get in. After 30-45 minutes, I was able to reach the host and access the home. At this time, a woman walks up to the fence and calls us over. She said she's the host's sister and had pots/pans for us to use. It was an unusual interaction.
We could not sleep in the bedroom with a mattress as it was a very old mattress. There was a significant impression in the old spring mattress that caused you to slant toward the head of the bed. We moved to the room with the futon. The futon seemed to be a great option until I laid down and ended up on the floor. Multiple slats were out of place, and we could not get them to stay where they needed to. It was a rough night of sleep...or lack thereof.
In the morning, we were startled when we noticed someone standing in the window. We were told that this person was hired/scheduled to replace the window sills. It was uncomfortable to have someone at the windows for hours.
Regarding cleanliness, it was not what we would have expected. The home was very "lived-in". The kitchen table looked as if it was just used for a meal. The kitchen floor had dirt on it. There was a layer of dust on the surfaces.
We weren't as concerned about the "lake view", though it was exciting to know that the beach was so close. The description states that one can sit on the front porch and enjoy coffee while looking at the lake. This is false. You would have to stand in the middle of the street to view the lake.
We were so thankful to find a VRBO that allowed for our pets to be with us. However, the price we paid for each night did not match the experience we had. We left after the first night. Our reservation was for 2 nights, but we changed our plans so that we would not have to stay another evening.
The house was perfect for our needs! Just close enough to Kenosha that we could drive back and forth for all of our son’s homecoming festivities at Carthage. Will definitely stay again!
The best to share is the location. It is three short blocks from a well kept beach. Though we could not see the lake from the property. I believe this is a great property for a weekend getaway. We booked 2 months! So things a weekend guest might not be bothered by are more of an issue for long-term guests. The futon sofa is not comfortable for sitting on to watch TV. It is lumpy and uncomfortable. There are two small bedrooms. From the photos it was difficult to see that in one bedroom one has only one side for two people to enter from. The other bedroom has two walls and a closet around the bed so the entrance is from the bottom of the bed. Also, the bed we used (both of us entering from the same side) had indentations and probably needs to be replaced. The bathroom is attractive but the shower/tub drains slowly. Another plus is the fenced yard. The area has a crime rate above the national average so the fence gave us a sense of added security. The porch stairwell is wobbly and did not feel secure. The inside of the house has prior pet damage and chipping paint on some baseboards and doors. The house is cozy and a great location. I would recommend it for short stays but not for longer stays. The owner was going to be making additional improvements so I am sure from the work underway it will be nicer. Her gardens are quite beautiful and the home has lots of charm. Again, the location is very good.
Place was clean and convenient. Didn't use washer or dryer I didn't know how and didn't want to mess them up. I really have nothing to complain about was set up cute had everything we needed . Was a very pleasant stay thank you so much
The home was cute and the location was close to what it was advertised to be but it only had a peekaboo view of the lake. I found it very unusual that we were asked to strip the beds as this is usually included in the cleaning fees. felt like I was a maid.
Most important, the beds were like sleeping on cement slabs. I could not sleep for two nights. My son, also an adult had difficulty sleeping as well.
The most important consideration when staying away from home is a comfortable bed. This home did not have that. The rehab looked as though it was put together quickly or it wasn’t finished yet. The bedrooms had scratches on the inside of of one of the doors from where it looked like pets had scratched the paint off, and the woodwork on the baseboards were not freshly painted. The railings on the porch stairs were loose and unsafe, in need of repair.
I would not stay here again for the above reasons
and would not highly recommend.
The positive, the fenced in yard was nice for children or pets and it was pretty.
This is my first time booking a stay with Vrbo, and I must say, first experience was great. Andrea reviewed and proved our request quick and had great communication. Checking in was super easy, and the home was clean and so nice! We were surprised to find a framed certificate saying it is a protected historic home. Wow! How neat. Walking in we also found that the owner even left us a little guide for FAQ of the home. Where to find things, how to lock and unlock the door, how to use the tv, etc. And had a list of places to eat out, shop, nearest hospital, etc. That’s soo nice!
We had a great weekend. Being 3 blocks from the lake was great. There were so many things to do. The host was very responsive and did everything possible to accommodate our needs. Thank you.
Great location and walk to the lake. Property Manager was easy to get a hold of (prior to stay as we had no concerns or reasons to reach out while there). GO PACK GO
Great location for a long weekend getaway that wasn’t too far from home. Very convenient with our kids to walk to the zoo, the beach, and the playground.
