About this property

Nolichucky's Retreat

A true escape on the river with awesome views of the mountains and total silence.... it’s a true cabin feel and awesome experience.

The water sports are amazing, the silence and access to the mountains second to none.

We sleep four and have camping for more. If you like river life this is perfect. This is a two bedroom cabin, one bedroom is a loft and the second is a separate bedroom both on the second floor. The house has great views of the river and mountains with its own private access to the river on over 3 acres. The property is rustic in nature and our five star reviews reflect guests experiences.

We have fast internet and WIFI and with a smart TV everything is available such as Netflix etc. We have all the normal safety and security systems including smoke alarms, carbon monoxide and external cameras. There is one camera on each side of the home facing away from the home. Front driveway, river access, side yard and rear yard. No amenities are in the view of any camera except for the fire pit in the backyard and various chairs also in the rear of the property.

The house is a cozy cottage with a beautiful deck overlooking the river. It is clean, well stocked with all the amenities you would need. Ralph was easy to communicate with and accommodating. We took our six year-old white lab. There was lots of room for her to run and explore outside. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

We'll Be Back!

This was a return stay and like the first time, it didn't disappoint. Had everything we needed. Check-in and out is seamless. View of the river has changed a little after the 2024 flood but you can actually see more of the river, a plus. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing country setting, this place is for you.

Always a great stay

I have stayed here a couple times over the years and its always great and cozy. The view of the river is beautiful and so is the view of viking mountain from the front! Listing is accurate. Everything works properly. Look forward to hopefully being able to choose this place again in the future.

Great get away

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Quiet, peaceful, rustic and serene are words that come to mind. Had everything we needed. Enjoyed our walks to and time spent by the river and good exercise going back to the cabin as well as the mountain view out front. Will definitely look at staying here again.

Grab some popcorn, this review, and I'm certain the rebuttal, will be gold. I believe the host is a sociopath. Second and final time using expedia/vrbo. After driving 500 miles with my wife, 2 young children, and dog, we arrived at 6pm. We entered the property and it was dirty. There was coffee spilled on the counter, toilet was not cleaned, and there were ants. **See photo Around 6:50pm, I receive a call from the host accusing us of having 5 guests at the property. **See photo, if anyone knows this woman, tell her to ask Mr. Billington why he is sharing the photo with unrelated parties. I personally would feel my privacy was violated. During the telephone call, the host was rude and demanded my family leave, without providing an alternative resolution. He was aggressive, and I was concerned for my family's safety, so we departed the property. Shortly after departing, I was contacted by vrbo. Vrbo wanted to conduct a conference call with the host. I explained I did not need to speak with the host, he demanded we vacate the rental. Subsequent to our departure, the host engaged in abusive and threating behavior via the vrbo app messaging function. **See photos Lastly, the host refused to return the money paid for the rental. My family was at the property for maybe an hour. Vrbo/expedia refused to assist in a resolution.

Remote barn living in East Tennessee...

Remote, secluded, quiet, well-equipped, comfortable, rustic... creative use of a former tobacco barn has everything you need to relax in setting that is both beautiful and serene. I wish I had stayed long enough and in a better season to make use of the nearby opportunities to enjoy the nature and scenery that surrounds. The deck overlooks and provides access to a deep bend of the placid Nolichucky river just down the hill. Shop and dine before you leave town... Greeneville is about 30 minutes away. If you get there after dark for the first time, it can be difficult to identify the entry gate at the road. Inside you will find two queen beds upstairs, one in a bedroom and the other on the open loft, with a full bath downstairs. The kitchen is sufficient and there is coffee with creamer and a few other necessities. I was in town for work in Greeneville and pricing was better plus this came with privacy and more space. Yes I would stay again and recommend to others. The host was very helpful and responsive to all my questions and needs.

Its definitely out away from the city and somewhat private. It wasn't as clean as it should have been, whoever stayed before us evidently had a dog, dog hair was everywhere and dusty, but it was very old and I expected some dust. The host, Ralph was excellent with communication and reaponded well to all messages.

Perfect location for our needs this trip. Great property. Medical note: the bathroom is downstairs and the bedroom is upstairs. So elderly or arthritic guests will need to exercise care during nighttime bathroom visits. We are both, but we managed. Don’t let it discourage you from enjoying this property. Just fyi.

Country stay

The cabin was out in the countryside. It was back off the road. Quiet and peaceful. One side had a view of the peaceful countryside and mountains. The other side was a view of the forest and the river.

Super cute house and location.

We loved the size and location of the place. It was just what we needed for a few nights stay while helping with supply runs after Hurricane Helene. We didn’t get to spend much time enjoying the outdoor area or kitchen as we were gone working. There was plenty of room to park and turn around our 30 foot trailer. My only complaint is that their was a lock on the thermostat and it was quite warm sleeping upstairs as there was no way to close off the heat vents or turn the temperature down . Overall a good stay for my husband and I. Price was fair and location was very private.

Great sunsets and porch sittin'

Download Merlin (bird app), grab a cup of coffee or cold beverage and let relaxation wash over you! Great location south of the Nolichucky river, but easy drive to Greeneville or to the best hiking in the world! Cabin is as described with the bathroom on the lower level and beds upstairs. Only slight negative were a few dust bunny's on the second bedroom.
