About this property

Backdoor to GNP - Modern Cabin in the Woods located on the North Fork Road

Welcome to Ten Mile Post, located on the North Fork Road on the edge of Glacier National Park -- this modern cabin in the woods offers all the comforts of the home, like cell & WiFi service, along with a quiet place to unwind.

Off the beaten path, this cabin sits perched on a hillside among diverse native trees, surrounded by Huckleberry bushes, Bear Grass, and other wild flowers. The back porch cantilevers out over the hillside showcasing views of the Apgar mountains in Glacier National Park which makes for an amazing place to watch the sun rise or set.

Ten Mile Post is the perfect home base for families who want to come together and enjoy the natural beauty of NW Montana in a private setting. Located just 10 miles north of Columbia Falls and 10 miles from West Glacier, this cabin boasts a fully stocked kitchen and living area that connects with a large exterior deck making it easy to relax outside. The indoor - outdoor bar is my favorite part of this cabin as it makes for the best place to enjoy food and beverages with friends and loved ones.

This cabin sleeps 6 comfortably. Downstairs, on the ground level, you will find 2 twin bunks just off the living area. There is a full bathroom with a tiled shower as well as a washer and dryer. On the 2nd floor, there are 2 twin bunks in the open loft entertainment area and then the master bedroom has one queen sized bed. Also located on the 2nd floor is a giant lounge net that provides a fun and comfortable place for kids of all ages to unwind after a day of adventuring. There is a second full bathroom with tiled shower on the 2nd floor as well.

This cabin has numerous books and games on hand along with Netflix and a few DVD's & VHS movies. We try to make things as homey as possible. We are located exactly one mile from Glacier Rim river access on the North Fork of the Flathead River and encourage swimming in the refreshing water, even if it is a bit brisk! With so much to do and so little time, my advice is stay that extra day, it will be worth it!

Montana vacation
My wife and I stayed for 1 week at this property and it was great. Only 15 minutes to Glacier NP west entrance. We hiked about 40 miles in the park while we stayed here. We wanted to hike in the "many glaciers" area of the park but that was a bit too far (about 2 and 15 minutes to get to the trail head). We will probably have to stay on the other side of the park to explore this area. The cabin was great and we'd definitely stay here again.

My husband and I love to travel. We met in 2003 on Whitefish Mountain Resort, fell promptly in love, saved some money, and then spent six months traveling around South America. We have road tripped the entire west coast, from Alaska to the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula and have even spent time in Central America. We've been lucky enough to see Australia, New Zealand, and Europe too. It has been one crazy adventure after another and somehow we've managed to not only survive, but thrive and one thing is certain - we always come home to Montana. We now have 2 amazing children who love to travel as much as we do. We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world (and we can honestly say this as we have been all over) and are looking forward to sharing our little slice of heaven. The rivers and surrounding lakes offer crystal clear fresh water to play on and the mountains provide endless trails for challenging yourself to go that extra mile. During the summer months you will probably see us out on our raft, soaking up the sun, catching fish and snakes (not me, the kids :). And, during the winter (when we're not out chasing the sun) we still love to ski on Whitefish Mountain Resort and try to keep up with our kiddos. Come visit Montana and you will see what I am talking about!

Why they chose this property

Growing up in Montana I have fond memories of the North Fork River. We had this old aluminum drift boat that was basically indestructible that my dad would let my brothers and I take out without him. He'd drop us off at the put-in and then pick us up 3 hours later at the take-out. This was pre-cell phone era when anything could have happened but didn't. Owning property on the North Fork has always been a dream of mine and now we get to share it with you. This property is secluded, bordering a marshy meadow and forest service land, we live for wide open spaces and this property allows us to feel like we have no neighbors (even though we do!)

What makes this property unique

Ten Mile Post is located on the way to the backdoor into Glacier . . . Not down with long lines and crowds? Us either! Off the beaten path has always appealed to us which is why we live where we do.
