About this property

Magnificent Provencal farmhouse surrounded by lavender & olive trees

Magnificent , private restored farmhouse with swimming pool & acres of unspoiled farmland with olive trees, lavender fields and incredible views over the Luberon Valley and nearby village of Murs.

“Mas de Roque Jeanne” is a magnificently restored authentic French farmhouse on 25 acres boasting lavender fields, olive trees and truffle oaks in the heart of the Luberon National Park only 7 kms from Gordes and 40 kms from Avignon. The Farmhouse, once a sheep farm, is surrounded by thousands of acres of oak forest with exceptional views over the Luberon Valley. As you drive up the lane, through the typically Provençal garrigue woodland dense with wild oak and olive trees, to the property you will be amazed to discover sweeping views and welcoming majestic oak trees giving shade at the rear of the farmhouse.

Built and restored in local stone on two levels, the Farmhouse, a private home in the off season, is fully furnished and tastefully decorated. The terrace and courtyard are accessible from the kitchen, dining room, library and living room and the property is equipped with all modern amenities. As you walk into the entrance foyer you immediately feel at home. The kitchen is a gourmet Chef’s dream with a huge zinc center island, stone counter tops, a battery of utensils for cooking, plenty of high quality plates, glasses, platters and cutlery. A traditional French Lacanche 5 burner gas stove , huge stone sink and dishwasher complete the space. Off the kitchen is a quaint, cool, rear terrace with a round stone table and barbecue area with views above you of the cliffs. There is plenty of cupboard space and a cold pantry to the rear of the kitchen. There are two refrigerators, one with freezer, a microwave, coffee machines, blender, kitchen aid mixer and everything you would need for preparing delicious meals. The laundry room is adjacent to the kitchen with washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities.

The long wooden dining table is great for informal lunches or evening meals and an impressive stone fireplace warms the cozy armchairs and is available for use during the winter months. The authentic provencal ceilings compliment the regional slab Pierre de Bourgogne tile floor throughout. The library and adjoining living room room, complete with double faced glass fireplace and comfortable seating, continue along the ground floor and offer views of the garden, terraces, pool and the nearby village of Murs. All perfect for reading quietly, aperos with friends, listening to music or watching TV. The shady outdoor covered terrace has pretty tables and chairs ideal for evening meals and summer lunches.

Upstairs has three spacious sunny bedrooms, each with its own luxurious bathroom (two bathrooms have both bath tubs and separate walk in showers, along with washbasins). The bedrooms all have spectacular views over the gardens, grounds and valley and are decorated in natural soft colors and fabrics complimenting the original wooden flooring and natural stone walls. The main house consists of three bedrooms, two with queen size beds and a third with a king size bed, all with en suite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom with its own ground floor entrance via the courtyard, also has a queen size bed and en suite shower room and is ideal for anyone who prefers privacy and first floor living.

The private swimming pool is set in teak decking and surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and olive trees with a sweeping views of the far off village of Murs and the Luberon valley. Comfortable sun loungers and parasol are available for use.

This entire property is completely secluded and private, a haven of peace for those who wish to enjoy a lazy relaxing holiday in the Provence region yet ideally located from all the amazing perched villages with their lively markets and pretty little streets all definitely worth the detour before coming back “home”.

The Best
Our stay in Provence was magical. The house is so beautifully decorated, the grounds and surrounding area gorgeous-it was a dream come true. We had Pascalynne cook our first night there; excellent. We went to the surrounding markets several days, cooking what we procured in the well equipped kitchen. We got so lucky with the weather, too-80’s and sunny every day. I can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you, Jamie and Rebecca

The Provence we dream of
Wow, what a beautiful house! The full 5’s across the scoreboard are completely warranted. Becky and Jamie have done a wonderful job renovating and decorating their house inside and out. Every detail is understated and high-end. Fabulous kitchen. Gorgeous bedrooms - each with ensuite. An amazing pool, deck and orangerie - all with spectacular vistas to Murs and beyond to the Petit and Grand Luberan. Benoit provided a warm and relaxed welcome and was on-hand promptly when the propane ran out. We highly recommend having Pascalyne cook one or more nights. The villa is in a very private and quiet location, and yet only a 10 minute drive to Gordes where there are several good restaurants, a boulangerie, pharmacy and bank machine. You are in the heart of the Luberon, the beautiful bowl that is what we imagine when we think of Provence - with lavender fields and every flavour of perched village encircling the vineyards that pack the valley floor. All within a 20-30 minute drive of the villa. Becky and Jaime, thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Perfect.

Amazing stay in Luberon!
This house is perfect in every way and is the best base for exploring the region. We loved the kitchen and the pool. Even in the middle of July, the nights are cool and comfortable. Jamie was very responsive and their info binder was extremely thorough with all types of recommendations. The only disappointing thing was no lavender fields on site as it looks like they may have been harvested. We were looking forward to that feature in July.

Even better than we thought
We were a family of 5 adults plus 2 partners, celebrating a significant birthday. This was a long time in the planning and dreaming and it turned out to be every bit as good as we had hoped for. The house is just lovely, very comfortable and very stylishly decorated. The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed. It was a very hot week while we were there so the pool got a lot of use, and we loved it. It was so peaceful, and yet well located to visit this stunning area of the Luberon. Even with the heat, all the bedrooms had fans which were put to good use. We had a couple of minor issues, things missing etc, but the manager Benoit was super nice and very available to fix things as soon as we asked. Overall I highly recommend this gorgeous property, and would go back every year if we could!!

Wonderful stay in the perfect home in Provence
Jamie & Becky's farmhouse is beautifully restored and decorated. We had a wonderful stay with another couple and spent our week exploring Provence. The first thing to do on Sunday morning is to head down to the bustling market in Coustellet, which is not like any farmers market I've ever been to. We cooked in one night, had Pascalyne a local chef come in 3 nights and ate out three nights. Jamie will tell you the best restaurant in the area is at the Hotel Crillon and he's not kidding. The dinner at L'Orangerie was more spectacular, especially since it was a beautiful evening and the presentation more creative, but our favorite dinner was just a mile away in Murs. In fact, we stopped by the Hotel Crillon every morning for coffee and a croissant. (you have to arrange this ahead). The farmhouse had every imaginable amenity and the grounds were just as beautiful as the house. We were early for the lavender, but the roses were magnificent. We can't say enough about the hidden gem just down the road from Gordes.

We feel very fortunate to spend about half the year on the coast of Maine and the rest of the year in Provence.

Why they chose this property

With its authenticity and modern amenities this tastefully restored farmhouse provides a haven for those seeking a true Provencal experience. Located just above the magnificent "Village Classe " of Gordes, this amazing property offers a perfect retreat for anyone who wants to either explore the region or simply stay home to relax and enjoy the magnificnet surroundings.

What makes this property unique

With lavender fields, olive trees and bee hives as well as the occasional truffle, these 25 acres are that much more special. One of our nearest neighbors is the 11th Century Abby of Senanque. All of the beautiful villages and attractions of the region are only 20 minutes or so away and Gordes is only 10 minutes down the road but at the end of the day, some guests say their favorite spot was right where they woke up every morning...
