Just what we needed
The Dewing Farmhouse is amazing. We didn't want to leave. The kitchen is huge, making it really easy to prepare meals even with kids running through. I loved the dining room table, which had enough seating for my party of 9. It would have fit the 13 I expected to have, and there are plenty of place settings to accommodate large families (plus enough to have the dishwasher loaded while still having clean dishes for the next meal).
The kids absolutely loved the loft. It will be one of the most memorable times of the year.
Another thing I really appreciate is that there was no TV in the main living room -- just couches and chairs so we would not be mesmerized by a screen instead of spending quality time together.
The bedrooms were spacious with space to unpack our luggage. We generally had good nights’ sleep, except the kids seemed to find the ice maker a novelty, and every one of the drank more water than we had ever seen them. (Maybe because the ice maker is at “kid” level rather than up higher.)
We took a hike up the hill and through the trails at the top of the hill. It was winter with a dusting of snow, so there wasn't much excitement in terms of flora or fauna, but there were plenty of good surprises, and getting out for a walk with family was the best way to start the new year (and share my birthday).
Communications with Mat was excellent. We ran into each other a number of times over the weekend, some on purpose and some random. He had a very minor maintenance
