Just what we needed
The Dewing Farmhouse is amazing. We didn't want to leave. The kitchen is huge, making it really easy to prepare meals even with kids running through. I loved the dining room table, which had enough seating for my party of 9. It would have fit the 13 I expected to have, and there are plenty of place settings to accommodate large families (plus enough to have the dishwasher loaded while still having clean dishes for the next meal). The kids absolutely loved the loft. It will be one of the most memorable times of the year. Another thing I really appreciate is that there was no TV in the main living room -- just couches and chairs so we would not be mesmerized by a screen instead of spending quality time together. The bedrooms were spacious with space to unpack our luggage. We generally had good nights’ sleep, except the kids seemed to find the ice maker a novelty, and every one of the drank more water than we had ever seen them. (Maybe because the ice maker is at “kid” level rather than up higher.) We took a hike up the hill and through the trails at the top of the hill. It was winter with a dusting of snow, so there wasn't much excitement in terms of flora or fauna, but there were plenty of good surprises, and getting out for a walk with family was the best way to start the new year (and share my birthday). Communications with Mat was excellent. We ran into each other a number of times over the weekend, some on purpose and some random. He had a very minor maintenance

Exactly What We Needed
Perfect house that fit our needs. Mat was easy to work with and very understanding. The down stairs is open and that made it easy for a group our size to all be in one location. All of the bedrooms with bathrooms made it easy for us to get ready at the same time. The house is beautiful and clean. There are to too many upgrades to be listed here.

A ten out of ten!
The owners of this property have developed a home that is not only well-appointed but serves to meet any need a guest may have. It was very adequate for our three families: 5 sleeping areas, two living rooms, and a very large dining room table! While beautifully decorated inside, there is so much to enjoy outside, as well, whether it is sitting on the wrap around porch, walking the hiking trail, or gathering around a well designed fire pit.

Idyllic getaway
This property is gorgeous, well-stocked and so well kept. Absolutely perfect place to stay with family. Our teens enjoyed hiking the trails and chilling in the loft with the strong wi-fi. The adults enjoyed breezy evenings rocking on the porch. Magical stay. Will definitely be back.

We are an entrepreneurial homeschooling family who enjoys hobby farming as a lifestyle. While we don't make a living farming, we love sharing with others an upscale farm lifestyle with the opportunity to see what a 35-head, high-end, grass-fed beef farm is like. We raise the beef for our family's consumption, and we sell the rest to friends. At our upper farm where we live full-time (which is 2-miles from the 220-acre farm you will be staying at) we keep a few other animals depending on the season including horses, ponies, goats or sheep, and chickens.

Why they chose this property

We've traveled the world and lived in 2 other states, but there's no place like home. Janice grew up on the 200+ acres adjacent to the farm where her parents still live. We purchased the farm in 2015 and set out on a 2-year extensive renovation of the farmhouse after a 1-year renovation of the historic barn where weddings and parties are held . Easily accessible on PA-187, half way between Wysox, PA and Nichols, NY, 7-miles south of the NY state border. The Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania is a region rich in family tradition where historically there were many small family farms; it is the region unexplored by many between the Finger Lakes of NY and the Poconos of PA.

What makes this property unique

Perfect for large families or extended families to congregate, or for multiple families to share a getaway. There's ideal indoor and outdoor space. The lawn makes a great place for a football game, ultimate frisbee, bocce, etc. The firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs will make forever campfire memories. If you want more adventure, the marked trail system on the 220-acres is hilly and can take you on either well drained gravel roads (sneaker approved) or old logging trails (boots suggested) through fields, forest, along old stone walls, and through a Christmas tree patch. For the most adventurous trek to the back side of the property to frolic in the secluded creek within a steep gorge.

The wrap-around porch with all the rocking chairs is perfect for sipping coffee, enjoy conversation or reading a book. The gas grill on the porch is just off the kitchen or can be wheeled to the back of the house for an outdoor gathering.
