It is the perfect location between town and the beach. The space was perfect for 5 adults and they had all the equipment that we wanted - in the kitchen and sports equipment. The owner was very responsive and nice. I would say this is probably the best VRBO I've stayed in. I felt so at home and comfortable. I wish we had more time there - hopefully next year.

Amazing home

thank you for the lovely house to stay in beautiful Hanalei. We’ve been coming for 20 years now and it’s truly a majestic, soulful place that has captured my three kids hearts for sure. The house was so well equipped, thank you! The kitties have been fed daily and are so lovely.

We had such a lovely time and couldn’t have asked for a better location. The house was the perfect size for my family of 5 and the kitchen was truly the heart of the home which was perfect for gathering at the end of each day for a family dinner. Joan was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to our questions. We will definitely be coming back. And my family lived bonding with the kitties

Amazing location!

This house is so special. The location is amazing. Steps away from shops and restaurants and 5 minute walk to the beach. We visited with our three young children and this house had all the items we needed to make it easy- wagon, beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, boogie boys, and MORE! Main living area and bedrooms have AC and beds are very comfortable. Thank you to the host for sharing your incredible home, we would love to stay here again!

The house had a great layout and PERFECT location, short walk to town and beach.

Lovely, well-equipped vacation home. Easily accommodates 6 people. Kitchen was easy to navigate and work in (serious cooks should bring their own chef's knife). Large, wrap-around porch to hang out on (front and back). I rarely review places; this rental was very good and I strongly recommend the Hanalei area. I've been to Kauai twice and find the Hanalei area MUCH preferable to Poipu or the east side of the island.

Great Vacation Home in Hanalei

We are a 3-generation family of 6 and enjoyed our stay in this lovely house in Hanalei. It is well located - within easy walking distance of the beach and all of the restaurants and shops in Hanalei. The house is well stocked both for beach adventures (chairs, umbrellas, wagons, sand toys, snorkeling gear, etc.) and for being comfortable indoors, with A/C in every room and a fully stocked kitchen. We also spent a lot of time on the back lanai, enjoying morning coffee and evening cocktails while the kids played the yard. Hanalei is a special place, and this is the perfect place to enjoy it!

Home away from home

We can't say enough great things about this home, we actually thought about skipping a review to keep it our little secret! :) We woke up our last morning and all said we will miss the house as much as Hanalei! It had everything we needed and more and was our best rental yet. This will be our top pick to stay every time we come to Kauai (hopefully not too far away....) Perfect location, perfect house, amazing hosts. It felt like we were staying with family instead of a VRBO. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Joan!

Great Stay

We have stayed at many places in Hanalei, Princeville, Haena, but this house really fit our needs and expectations. We loved the house. Very well appointed for those that enjoy cooking. The entire house has fans, air moving, we slept soundly all night. The back porch backs up to a lush, tropical greenscape. Within walking distance to the Hanalei Bay and close to downtown Hanalei. Thank you Joan. Loved the house and will be back!

A Wonderful Property!

My wife and I enjoyed staying in this property for a few weeks in February-March, 2016. The website photographs faithfully depict the property, which is spacious, very comfortable and fully stocked with all necessary kitchen and other supplies. The property's location couldn't be better -- just a few steps walk to shopping and restaurants in town, and a short walk to a spectacular beach. The owner is very professional and responsive. I highly recommend this lovely property, with confidence that you will enjoy it as much as my wife and I did.

Trip of a lifetime.

Location and convenience to Hanalei was fantastic. House was clean, as advertised and wonderfully quiet. Made 2 new friends there ( the cats). Beautiful area to be. Loved having beach accessories available in the garage. The roosters were quaint. Didn’t bother me. Actually produced a smile every 6 seconds or so when they crowed. Loved both front and back porch to watch waterfalls and backyard was exceedingly tranquil. Easy house instructions and nice practical setup. Thanks for the opportunity! We don’t want to leave! Hopefully be back next year!

Great house, Great location, Great time

This house is located on a quiet culd-a-sac away from street noise and close to Hanalei shopping and restaurants. This makes it convenient to walk over to the grocery store or to grab a bite to eat. At the same you’re only a 2 minute walk (or bicycle ride) to Hanalei beach. It’s just a perfect location. The house was clean and had everything we needed. When we needed to get ahold of the owner she was quick to respond and was very helpful. There were a couple cats that come and go and sometimes hang out on the property and you can feed them if you want or just ignore them. We chose to feed them and make a couple temporary friends during our stay. This is a perfect house for a wonderful stay in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous vacation home!

This vacation home was absolutely perfect for our family in terms of location, size, comfort, and amenities. Hanalei is a beautiful, casual, fun spot. This home is within 5 minutes walking distance of everything we needed: beach, grocery, restaurants, coffee shops, bakery, ice cream. That made it nice for our teens when they wanted to do things on their own. It's quiet (except for the early morning chickens) and very private with a lovely, lush backyard that makes it feel like you're in the middle of a tropical rain forest. We enjoyed surfing every morning at Hanalei Bay and all the great places to eat nearby. We also appreciated Joan's tips on activities. Even with a few rainy days it all worked out. We like new adventures so it’s not often we say we'd go back somewhere. But we would happily go back to Kauai and enjoy this wonderful house again.

Beautiful House in Prime Location

We have stayed in Hanalei/Kauai many times and the house and host exceeded our expectations. First off, communications with Joan concerning arrival and questions about where things were located during stay were prompt and very helpful. The house is beautiful and very well kept. The beds were super comfortable, all the appliances worked well, and the pantry spices and other items were a nice touch! The a/c came in handy at night (separate unit for each room, which is great) and access to the beach equipment in garage was a huge plus (boogie boards, SUPs, kayak, chairs, snorkel gear, etc.). The lanai was fantastic and was blessed with a number of friendly neighborhood cats who would show up for outdoor feedings in the morning and evenings (Joan provided plenty of cat food for them) which my family thoroughly enjoyed! Location is perfect to walk to town or beach. Great host, great house! Mahalo!

Privacy in the Heart of Hanalei

Great location with private backyard. Privacy is hard to find so close to Hanalei’s shops, but you can actually wear your PJ’s and not be seen in this backyard. The walk to the heart of Hanalei’s town is two minutes. The walk to the beach is less than ten minutes. The house was beautiful, clean and the beds were comfortable. The front and back patio we’re huge and a great place to hang out. The kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals and the grill outside works perfect. The houses finishes were high end with Hawaiian style wood, travertine, and granite. . The house is spacious and the master suite is on the opposite side of the living room from the other two rooms. All of the rooms are a nice size. Six adults would easily enjoy this house and still have a good amount of privacy. Thank you Joan for sharing your home with us and best of luck to my fellow travelers! You will love Kaua’i and this home away from home!

Great Home Base!

We have stayed in Hanalei several times and this house was the most convenient for walking to coffee, shopping, markets and restaurants - Literally a 3 minute walk! We found the house to be very comfortable, although we did feel it was in need of some freshening up (new stove and oven and kitchen floor mats, specifically). We loved the cats (luckily we are a cat-obsessed family!) and they kept us entertained. We cooked a lot during our stay and had some issues with a couple of appliances due to their age, but Joan was responsive and couldn't have been more accommodating. I expect these appliances will be fixed/updated for the next guests. We enjoyed all our meals on the back lanai. We would have liked the backyard to be better appointed with some seating because it was a lovely setting. We ran out of propane after the first dinner, so we didn't use the grill after that. (The extra tanks in the garage felt empty, but maybe they weren't). The roosters didn't bother us. Anyway, all in all we had a great time in our Happy Place, Hanalei! I hope we left the home in good shape for the next guests. Thank you, Joan!

Perfect Home Away From Home

The house was the perfect set up for our family with two little ones and both sets of grandparents. It's location couldn't have been a better fit for our group-on a quiet cul-de-sac away from the busy roads but close enough to walk to the beach or town. We stayed on Weke road for our last trip and the road was too busy for little ones. The kitchen was well stocked and well organized. We cooked all of our meals except the occasional visit to Pat's Taqueria Truck down by the Hanalei Pier. Our group loved sitting on the back lanai at night enjoying our dinner in such a private peaceful place. The roosters eventually began to blend in with the other neighborhood noises and with white noise or earplugs, they weren't a problem at night. Our little girls, who both turned 1 and 3 on the trip, especially took pleasure in feeding the 5 then at one point 6 cats in the morning and at night. The main room was comfy and great for down time. The beds were comfortable as well. We are very impressed with this home and hope to return very soon. My husband and I have our own vacation rental and have stayed at many homes, and this one is right at the top.

Happy in Hanalei

We recently stayed at this wonderful property. We were on 3 different islands with our sons and mother-in-law. This home was by far the best of all our accommodations. From the well appointed kitchen to the relaxing porches and the wonderful outdoor shower we could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It is steps away from the town which makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. We went deep sea fishing, went to Queens Bath, Secret beach, Napoli coast tour, helicopter flight,and of course a short walk to Hanalei beach which we just loved. We had dinner at all the resturants and each was delicious and had their own uniqueness to them! The sunsets were just beautiful. All of us were taken by the kitty's that quickly stole our hearts. And the roosters that we had read about really were not that bad, it took us one night till it became back ground noise. Honestly there is nothing negative we can say about this home and island, we are already talking of a return trip! Thank you for a wonderful place to finish our special trip! Back in Lititz,Pa but dreaming of Hanalei!

Wonderful location and spacious. Other than needing a fresh coat of paint the house is in wonderful condition. This home does feel more like someone’s home and less of a pure vacation rental, but that didn’t bother us. We enjoyed all of the animals and specifically the cats around the house

The neighborhood is quiet, the house is close to the restaurants and markets. The Hanalei beach is close too. We used the house beach gears (chairs, umbrella, snorkels, towels). The kitchen is big and equipped we were able to cook our breakfast and dinner. The house has washer and dryer do we were able to wash our clothes after a muddy hike. The house has board games and puzzles - we had good family time playing together.

My family and i stayed at this property for the first time for 2 weeks. We just returned tonight. I have been visiting the island since my husband and I got married at the Princeville Resort (now 1 Hanalei Bay) in 1999. I absolutely loved this property as did my entire family! So much so that we already booked for next year. The house is immaculate and has everything you need for cooking, for relaxing, and especially for the beach. Included in this amazing propery is snorkeling gear, beach chairs, and umbrella for the beach foe those really sunny days when youve had too much sun, a wagon to carry all of thia to the beach, boogie boards, and beach toys if you have little ones!And i cannot say enough good things about the hosts - Joan and Tanya! They took such good care of ua and addressed every MINOR problem we had. And i say MINOR in all caps because thats what they were. But anything we needed or questions we had, were addressed immediately. And lastly, the location in Hanalei is perfect. If you like Hanalei and the true old feel of Hawaii...thia is your place.

Great family time in Hanalei

Joan's property was fantastic. Being able to walk to both the beach and shops/restaurants was perfect. The house was very comfortable and Joan was very accommodating. The beach equipment in the garage, particularly the boogie boards for our kids and paddle board for the adults was awesome. 10/10 would stay here again.

Ideal Home

We visited Hanalei for my son’s Spring Break and had the most perfect stay in Joan’s house. The house is cozy, modern, well equipped and perfectly located. Joan was quick to communicate and very accommodating. We could not have asked for a better home for our Spring Break.

Good location but could use an update

Let me start my saying the property owner seems very nice and is very responsive. The house itself is weathered, in need of an update and a deep cleaning. It is very well located, right near town and about an 8 minute walk to the beach if you’re lugging equipment. I would recommend you like cats if you stay here. When we arrived there were about five plus cat beds, scratching posts along with tons of cat nip on the porch. The property owner had it moved when I asked but the outdoor doesn’t feel very clean and floors aren’t mopped and the furniture is not very clean. Overall we didn’t spend any time on the lanais or anywhere in the backyard because of this. That was quite disappointing. The house is well laid out and the size is comfortable but again, it doesn’t didn’t feel very clean. Wish I had a better review for it and hopefully it will get a deep cleaning in the future.

Fantastic place to stay!

We love this house in Hanalei and have stayed here multiple times. It is comfortable, very well maintained and in a great location - close to town and an easy walk to the beach. The owner is wonderful and really cares about the guest experience.
