About this property

Gîte de la Paille - LOURNAND

Owners of an on-site craft brewery ("La Paille" beer / tours and tastings available), Julien and his partner Céline welcome you to a charming, authentic, and characterful 19th-century stable, carefully restored on a former agricultural estate. Enjoy tranquility in the heart of the Cluny countryside, nestled in a charming, typical, and unspoiled little village built like an amphitheater, on a site steeped in history (the location of Lourdon Castle, the first priory-castle of the abbots of Cluny, whose 11th-century remains still exist), in a bucolic valley of wooded meadows, just a stone's throw from a vast wild forest. The surrounding countryside is magnificent, gently rolling, a mix of hedged meadows, vineyards, fields, and beautiful wild forests (protected as a Natura 2000 and ZNIEFF site for its rich flora and fauna). A truly enchanting setting. Spacious and comfortable cottage. Warm country charm with contemporary touches, a "family home" feel enhanced by careful heritage renovation (preservation of elegant stone walls, wooden window lintels, and original timber framing). Cozy and inviting atmosphere. Beautiful "cathedral" bedrooms (generous proportions) nestled under the eaves, creating a cozy "cocoon" effect. Large gravel terrace, shaded and sunny (depending on the day), opens onto a pleasant enclosed garden, a perfect playground for children, adjoining a gentle pasture (where the owners' peaceful goats graze). Composition: Detached house next to the owners' house (complete privacy). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating. Private laundry room with washing machine accessible from the outside (on-site). Duplex cottage. Ground floor: Living room/kitchen/lounge. First floor: 2 bedrooms (one with a 160x200cm double bed / the other with a 140x190cm double bed and a 90x190cm single bed), shower room (shower/WC). Terrace + enclosed garden (200m² / partially sloping) + bicycle storage + private parking. Amenities including supermarkets 5 km away. Relaxing "little corner of the countryside"! Charming authentic traditional character stable dating from the 19th century carefully restored & re-enchanted into a gentle charming holiday home - adorned with a pleasant enclosed garden of 200m² with its terrace - nestled in the peace and quiet, in the heart of a picturesque little village, 5 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny (one of the most beautiful pearls of Burgundy, world-renowned, endowed with the prestigious "European Heritage" label / all amenities on site including supermarkets), 9 km from Taizé (& its famous religious community) & 11 km from the delightful typical & commercial town of Cormatin (renowned for its sumptuous 17th century castle, one of the most prestigious in Burgundy). Soothing tranquility in the heart of the Cluny countryside, nestled in the hollow of a bucolic valley of meadows a stone's throw from a vast wild forest, overlooking the Grosne valley (green bocage where a fish-filled river meanders), within a vast natural area protected in Natura 2000 & ZNIEFF Zone (for its very rich ecosystems), facing the wooded foothills of the South Burgundy massif (wild & preserved), next to the first vineyards of the Mâconnais (including the famous "Val Lamartinien" very close to the name of the illustrious host of the place), not far from the vineyards of the Côtes Chalonnaises as well as Beaujolais (first vineyard in the world recognized as a "UNESCO Global Geopark"). An exceptionally privileged location on the route of various marked hiking trails, including a "green walk" (a vast network of similar hiking trails to explore nearby on foot or by mountain bike) and the GR76, connected to the famous GR "Chemin de Cluny" (ViaCluny) as well as the legendary "Chemin des Moines" (which once linked the abbeys of Cîteaux and Cluny), adjacent to the Romanesque Churches circuit and the "Route des Vins de Bourgogne" (which extends into the "Route des Grands Vins"), 2 km from the "Grande Boucle de la Bourgogne du Sud" Green Way (and its remarkable "Tunnel du Bois Clair," accessible 10 km away, the longest former railway tunnel in France open to a greenway at 1.6 km), next to the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de la Saône-et-Loire by bike), and 2 km from the renowned GTM mountain bike circuit, certified "VTT" FFC" (Grand Tour of the South Burgundy Massif connected to a vast network of identical marked trails crisscrossing the South Burgundy Massif in a star pattern) & 17 km of the renowned Mont Saint-Romain downhill mountain bike trail. In the heart of the Tournugeois-Clunisois (designated a "Land of Art and History"), at the crossroads of the Mâconnais, Chalonnais & Charolais-Brionnais (designated a "Land of Art and History"), not far from the Ain department & the Bresse Bourguignonne. Located 21 km from the medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National (a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté"), 22 km from Lugny ("the small capital of the Haut-Mâconnais," the leading wine producer of Burgundy wines), 23 km from the medieval town of Brancion, 27 km from the scenic gem of the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson (a designated "Grand Site de France"), 28 km from Mâcon (Mâcon Loché TGV station 26 km away), 32 km from Tournus, 36 km from Charolles, 46 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (a designated "City of Art and History"), 40 km from "Hameau Dubœuf" (Europe's first wine and vineyard theme park), 45 km from Beaujeu (the historic capital of Beaujolais), and 47 km from Vonnas (a gastronomic and gourmet village). (by Georges Blanc). A warm and inviting cocoon of serenity for a refreshing "green getaway"! Perfect for families or couples!
