I loved this property! It was quirky, fun, and welcoming. The host was able to accommodate me in helping with surprising my girlfriend with decorations. I really appreciated that. She also has everything you need in the property to feel at home. Her kitchen is fully stocked and spacious. The beds were comfy and bathroom was very clean. I would highly recommend.

Great ambience! Charming, clean and welcoming!

Listing was accurate! We had a great night stay while in the Cincy area to take in some museums and sights. The ambience was warm and welcoming with electic and artsy touches throughout. The "house binder" was great. Meeting the friendly hostess by chance at checkout was icing on the cake!

Great place to stay in Covington

The property is very nice and comfortable. Very creative decorating and welcoming. In a good location within walking distance of many restaurants and little shops in downtown Covington. The only issue was that neither of us slept well as it sounded like someone was walking on the floor above us all night long. We were on separate floors but had the same experience. May have just been creaky floors of an old house,

Covington condo.

The place was so beautiful & the freshness smell of the place was great. I loved the stairs and the downstairs bedroom. Along with the decorations and the full size connect 4 was fun to play. The only negative thing I could say that I didn’t like was that the air conditioner upstairs is attached to the wall. The owner messaged me About why there was water on the floor and leaking down the walls. I got blamed for the low maintenance. I googled this type of air conditioner and your supposed to empty the condensation pan regularly. I stayed for maybe a total of 12 hours. It was a hectic day with my family they can’t seem to get along so I left in a rush. So I know 100% the air conditioner wasn’t my fault. Secondly, my brother has ADHD terribly. He literally likes to touch every single thing it drives me crazy at times, but he can’t help it. I think the owner was upset that the remotes weren’t in the exact same spot as he/she left them. It was hard enough for me to figure out how things went even though I tried. Other than that it was a beautiful stay. If you stay make sure you put the remotes in the correct spot when you leave and make sure the coffee pot is in the same spot when you leave. If you notice anything damaged when you arrive make sure to let him/her know before you even stay. There is also cameras in the front and the back patio. I just felt like someone was watching me 24/7 when I went out to smoke, I don’t like that feeling. Just a heads up! I also left my $100 Bluetooth speaker and told the owner they could keep it because the water leaked down the the next floor and on the walls from what the picture looked like that was sent to me. I felt bad, but I couldn’t help it. I also asked if there was anything I could do to help, I didn’t get a reply. I always try to make things right even if I felt as if it wasn’t my fault.

Wonderful!

The effort Vicky and her family expend on this property is evident. The house is sparkling clean, well-appointed, and the beds are really comfortable. The kitchen and a spacious bedroom are downstairs. A semi-spiral staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom, a living area with TV and plenty of board games, and the bathroom. This place is perfect for a Reds or Bengals game. My daughter and I took the Southside Shuttle bus to a Friday night baseball game. It was an easy ride and only cost 4 round trip. The next day we drove to the game, and that was easy too.I was surprised how easy it is to get from Covington to Cincinnati. Our visits to the zoo and sign museum were just a short drive away. Thanks, Vicky and Doug! The House of Liebe is a wonderful place.

Great!

We stayed here for a family trip to Cincinnati. Great location, easily walkable to the city and sites we wanted to go to. The kids loved the extras there like the spinning wheel and drawer of random things they could take :) Perfect for what we needed. We are from the Detroit area but if you have never lived near or traveled to a city center, the home is located off the main city area behind a gas station with a homeless population. We had zero issues with this and did not feel “unsafe”, only mentioning this so you’re aware, especially if you’re not from areas like this. We had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this location or stay again.

Good location, overbearing host

Location was great for the reason for our stay. We were in town for our wedding celebration - our place of stay should have been the last thing we would need to worry about, however, it was the most stressful part of the weekend. We received multiple, long messages reiterating the same “rules” throughout our stay. We had to get it “approved” for two individuals to come by for 2 hours to do our hair and makeup. Having a few out of town family members stop by to drop off a wedding gift was not allowed because we couldn’t have “visitors” enter the home. Felt as if every move we made had to be approved by the hosts. We were even told how to park our cars. We felt uncomfortable sitting in the courtyard because we felt we were being watched by the multiple cameras. Seems like maybe this host has been burned in the past, but that shouldn’t be held against new guests. The home itself was nice, spacious, and had a lot of character.

Covington

Our stay was very comfortable. First time travelling with our 15 year old small dog. She had a secure side yard for potty breaks and we loved having coffee/reading beneath a shade tree. Loved the location for walking to restaurants. Try the Bahn Mi at The Standard, a tenth of a mile away. Grabbed a slice of pizza on Mainstrasse mid day after visiting Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park. Headed the opposite way for a brunch and then Korean food. Vicky was on property within 5 when we had initial access glitch. Museums were a quick and easy drive over the bridge. Devou Park was a quick drive up the hill and a beautiful location to overlook Cincinnati with a children’s park and hikes Vicky was insight within minutes when we had an entry glitch. She was very personable and helpful. She has so many family fun activities that we’d love a return trip with grandchildren.

Family of 4 from the Greater Cincinnati Area!

Doug is an amazing film-maker, composer and sound guy; Vicky was a top podcaster on iTunes and blogger for 10 yrs focusing on "What Really Matters"; Aidan is our charming, handsome guy - a head pastry chef, supreme foodie, tech-geek, dog whisperer and all-around good human being loved by all; and Ellie is our adorable little princess - nick-named "Friday" for believing every day can be Friday when you're doing what you love. She loves music, her friends, art, pets and school. And then there is Granny (a.k.a. Linda) who is #5 to our Rental Venture. Granny is retired and loves to help at our Rentals when she can. It's her FREE Thornton gym membership. She loves meeting guests and takes as much pride in hosting our homes as the rest of us.

We all LOVE food, movies, travel, people, and the city we live in! We have been landlords for over 25 years and our first Rental (House of Liebe - love in German) was the first home we bought together in Covington. The other half of this historic two-family is our other place (The Tres House - tres for three floors and our third Rental). It has been so much fun and successful we opened up two others, just a street over (The Slanted House and Always Friday - of course named after Ellie). And yes, The Slanted House does lean a little to the west if you are looking at it from across the street. So yes - we love hosting and always beautify-ing (a.k.a. cleaning) our homes to share with others.

Why they chose this property

Mutter Gottes Kirche, or Mother of God Church, was founded by German immigrants to Covington in 1841. The surrounding neighborhoods of treelined streets and brick town homes is named for this beautiful landmark. Mutter Gottes neighborhood was one of the first residential expansions of Covington, and most structures there were built between 1860 and 1890. The area bound by Fourth Street on the north, Pike street on the south, the CSX railway to the west, and Madison Avenue to the east is listed as a National Registered Historic District. Noteworthy historic structures include the fire station on Sixth Street and the Albert B. Koett house on Russell Street. A garden at the intersection of Sixth and Craig contains the Neighborhood Mosaic sign.

What makes this property unique

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Diverse. Historic. Charming. Many of our neighbors have lived on our street for decades. View of beautiful downtown Cincinnati from the bedroom windows and courtyard. Conveniently located next to Dep Liquor Store, Covington Tobacco, Shell Gas Station, and Circle K store for those late night chocolate (or other) cravings!
