About Nora and Simon Richards
We are Simon and Nora Richards and we live at Hanley House, the old farmhouse where we have brought up our two children. Life here has included looking after cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and poultry. We are both retired and enjoy country pursuits as well as relaxing and enjoying the banter in our local hostelry.

Excellent for some time away from the city
This property is excellent for getting away from the stresses of urban living, the owners were very helpful and very accommodating especially when we have to ask for different soaps due to partners allergies. The welcome pack that you receive was a lovely touch and the cake was lovely. We hadn’t even left and we were already planning our next holiday here as it was so peaceful. Thank you to Simon and Nora for the amazing stay.
Best holiday cottage we have stayed in.
Super host Nora is kind hearted & generous, she made us feel very welcome. The generous sized cottage is in a beautiful area with good transport links to Shrewsbury & the surrounding areas. The cottage is very well equipped , clean, comfortable & has everything you could possibly need for self catering. There is a good local pub within a 5 min walk should an evening meal be required, food there is very good. We had a lovely time at The Corn House & we plan to return to this lovely home from home very soon. We highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quality holiday home that is unique & well above average.
Retreat in the hills
We had a wonderful few days for our honeymoon. The Corn House is in a tranquil setting and the accommodation is first class. Nora provided a lovely welcome hamper, cake and flowers. We will definitely return.
Well placed accommodation in a lovely part of the country. Very relaxing weekend in a pristine and well stocked property
Such a wonderful cottage!
We very much appreciated the kind hospitality, delicious cake, and lovely cottage.
A very well appointed, clean, and fresh place to stay in Shrewsbury. Nora and Simon were delightful hosts. This rental has the bedroom on the bottom, and it was a delight to not carry luggage upstairs.
We enjoyed the beautiful countryside from the upper patio in the late Summer 2019. Wonderful!
A great place to stay
the property was perfect, we were made to feel welcome, and the cake and welcome pack an added bonus. Very happy.
There is good shopping, historic buildings and castle, a theatre and museum in Shrewsbury. It is within easy reach of the World Heritage site at Ironbridge and also Wroxeter Roman City and vineyard. There is lovely walking country locally and on the Long Mynd and Stiperstones. National cycle routes are on the doorstep. It is a good touring base for the Marches and Mid Wales. There are several National Trust properties locally - Attingham Hall and Park, Powys Castle, Sunnycroft. A bus service between Shrewsbury and Pulverbatch stops in the village.
