Ghost Canyon Getaway Unit #3

Beautiful quiet getaway in the Black Hills, located only 10 minutes from Custer State Park, 25 minutes from Mt Rushmore, 35 minutes from Rapid City, SD. Lots of hiking, fishing, wild life and beautiful country. Guided horse back rides offered by J & F Tails and Trails next to the property.

We have two single units that are similar to hotel style rooms. Each unit has a queen bed, double sleeper sofa, and a private bath. The units have a 4.5 cubic fridge and freezer (big – mini fridge), a coffee pot, and a microwave. There are plenty of options for cooking with a private barbecue with a side burner outside, Blackstone griddle, and the fire-pit with a cooking grate. There is a kitchenette with a sink to wash dishes. The units are stocked with both disposable kitchen wares and non-disposable coffee cups and utensils for cooking if you wish to cook in instead of eating out.

The unit has heat and air conditioning, free internet, and satellite TV. We provide bed linens, towels, and kitchen utensils. The rooms are cleaned when you check out and a one-time cleaning fee is charged. If you need additional towels or bed linens during your stay, just let us know.

The property has a fire pit for all guests enjoyment and a basketball hoop for the kids to burn off their energy.

The property is located in the country with horses coming to the fence to greet you. The cabin is decorated very nicely and fits very well with the country location. Everything we needed was provided in regards to kitchen items,dishes,towels, shampoo, conditioner,body wash... The location was ideal for our trip to Custer State Park and Keystone area.Everything was exceptional.

Lovely stay in a country setting

If you enjoy looking at open skies, evening stars and pastoral views of horses this is the place for you. The photos and descriptions by the owners were spot on, pretty much what we expected.

Awesome!

First of all, the property is just beautiful. Idyllic with horses and deer roaming in the fields. We enjoyed the yard where the kids ran around, explored, and played volleyball. The room was very clean and had everything we needed and then some. You can tell that the host has put a lot of thought into making it as convenient as possible. She even brought her horse over for the kids to see. My kids slept on the sofa bed and we were very comfortable. We accidentally locked our keys in the car and had to wait for roadside assistance to come open it—I was worried we were too far in the boonies and it was Sunday, but it went fine. The property is very close to Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore and was a great home base for sight-seeing. We would definitely stay here again!

Road Trip

The property was equipped with all needs. Although we thought the house was perfect The several mile road was red dirt and because it rained my car had red clay in wheel wells and my car was a mess. Chunks of red dirt fell out each time I took to car wash. I believe description said gravel road; and this was not gravel. I imagine in dry summer months the road wouldn’t be an issue.

Off the beaten path but a gem of a place

If you like the crowds and tourists, this isn’t for you. If you enjoy quiet, wildlife, beautiful surroundings, and accessibility to the National Parks, then I highly suggest you look this place up. Everything was seamless and as advertised. I’d love to return someday.

Peaceful Tranquility

The scenery was amazing. Relatively close to everything we wanted to do. This particular cabin on the property (cute as it was) was a little small for a family of 4 (but doable) however, the cabin we did want was booked so this was the tradeoff for being away from all the busyness of tourism which is what we were looking for. Hermosa has a little grocery store so there is no need to go to Rapid City. The host was easy to work with. We wanted to add a day to our trip, messaged the host and boom, it was taken care of. Would highly recommend staying at Ghost Canyon Getaway!

We stayed 4 days and loved it. The property was better than expected. It was very clean and comfortable, and felt like home. Ghost Canyon Getaway

Just spent 4 days in this great place that was so enjoyable. Far enough away from the touristy spots of Keystone and Custer but within a 20 minute drive to Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse. The room has a bunk house feel to it with all amenities you need. The place was very clean, the bed comfortable and looked out onto farmland pastures with horses, cattle, and even deer on most mornings. Gas grills and a Blackstone grill are provided for grilling meals. There is also a very nice patio with a fire pit to enjoy the evening if you wanted. We selected this place because we wanted some peace and quiet after a long day of driving to see all the sights around Rushmore. You do have to drive down a gravel/clay road for about 5 miles to get to this place after leaving the main road, but the road is very well maintained and not a problem at all. Matt and Jen are wonderful hosts who live on the property and available for any questions or issues you might have. We would definitely stay here again!
