The farm has been in Regina’s family since 1948 when her grandfather purchased and farmed the land. This area was historically called Red Landing and an old ramp and concrete kiln that might have provided pitch to repair the bottom of boats trafficking the river remain on the property as evidence of a bygone era when steamboats regularly traveled the river .
For those looking for peace and quiet, communing with nature, this stand alone house offers a chance to stay in the midst of one of the most visited areas on the east coast. Where else on the east coast can you spend time in a place without any other views of neighbors? The Cottage sits on a point of land that affords views of the river and the adjoining state forest. The privacy is spectacular; especially since a major resort that expands to 300,000 people in the summer is only minutes away.

About the host
Hosted by Regina, Jeff, and Jessica Royer

Regina and Jeff are both retired educators. Jeff taught high school biology for 36 years. Regina was a professor in the education department of Salisbury University. Jeff stays busy maintaining the farm and two houses.. They keep fit boating and kayaking on the river as well as biking throughout the areas roadways. Much of the area's shoreline and forests are owned by the Nature Conservancy, a tribute to the area's scenic beauty.
Why they chose this property
Regina’s Mom and Dad built this house on the farm in 1981 and Regina and Jeff built a house and moved to the farm in 2015. Many family crab feasts and Christmas dinners have been held at the Cottage. Unfortunately, Mom died in 2013 and Dad died in December, 2019. Not yet ready to sell the house, they have decided to share this beautiful setting.
What makes this property unique
Where else on the east coast can you spend time in a place without any other views of neighbors? The Cottage sits on a point of land that affords views of the river and the adjoining state forest.
