About this property
Quirky and unique converted Woolshed
The original woolshed on the farm has been converted into accommodation, using largely recycled materials. The aim was to maintain the original character of the building, the history and essential Kiwi-ness of it, as well as making it as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible.
We have retained various of the original woolshed features - the woolpress now houses the hot water cylinder, a shearing plant graces the wall, and one wall is covered by corrugated iron previously cladding the outside of the woolshed. The living area floor is natural timber, and the remaining living area walls are clad with native rimu taken from the exterior of a demolished woolshed at Whitehall.
Add in quality lights and furniture and the result is a quirky, cosy, country cottage, ideal for romantic getaways or families who enjoy being surrounded by nature. Comfortably accommodates four. See our website for photos, and for up to date availability.
We are environmentally minded - so whilst you will find everything you need here, we have deliberately omitted various 'luxury', non-environmentally friendly items. There is a microwave, but no dishwasher, clothes dryer, or electric blankets ;-) The Woolshed is however fully insulated, and has a log burner and extra quilts for those cooler winter days.
Enjoy farm walks, birdwatching, and bush walks. Hang out in our Native Garden.
Pets by prior arrangement; please advise in advance for any conditions.
We are working to reverse the damage done to this farm over the last 100 years, by protecting streams and gullies and replanting native bush. Your stay in The Woolshed will help us fund our conservation efforts!
7.5km from Te Miro Mountain Bike Park; close to Maungatautari Ecological Island, Lake Karapiro, and Mystery Creek (30 mins). 15 mins to Cambridge's quality cafe's and restaurants. 30 mins from Hamilton or Hamilton Airport.

Really great place to stay and hosts more than helpful. Appreciated being able to have the dogs along and they were very excited by bunnies and birds who kept popping into view. Really recommend.
The property was excellent for us and our show dogs. They loved the place and enjoyed their own sleeping quarters in the dog trailer with air conditioning. Also enjoyed the quite farm & huge sandy area for the dogs to exercise. Would stay here again.
Warm and cosy cabin in the rolling Waikato hills close to Cambridge and Karapiro.
Great to have our dog welcome. Loved the gorgeous restorative native plantings around the farm setting.
We were four of 6 people for the waka ama national championships at Lake Karapiro on on the Waikato River. Staying at the Woolshed was a joy. So tranquil and beautiful.
Great place to stay. Wood fire and amazing regenerating farm. Lovely hosts. Recommended.
Great to walk around and into native bush.
Peaceful. Amazing stars.
Great property, perfect for what we wanted with good facilities. Very comfortable and clean. The outside could have done with a bit of tidy up/mow of lawns out the front (first impressions) but it had been very wet so that may have been the reason. Would definitely recommend and visit again when we're visiting Lake Karapiro.

Thanks, Anna, glad you enjoyed your stay! Yes, couldn't seem to get a dry window to do the lawn, lol
We stayed here when we attended a wedding in Cambridge.
Very cute and picturesque.
A good sized place for up
To four people.
You will need your own car to get to and from accommodation.
Good communication with hosts.
Thank you for the oasis, such a beautiful setting and loved stepping back in time. So nice to feel transported back to our own upbringings on farms. Appreciated the wood top for the fire, only wish we’d had more daylight hours there to enjoy. Thank you
The house was well equipped and the walks on the property were fabulous. We could just take our dog straight out on a walk on the trails around the farm. It was also a short ride away to the mountain bike park.
A really lovely spot to chill out for a couple of days. We would definitely stay again when traveling that way.

An Unforgettable Stay at The Woodshed – A True Slice of Paradise
Staying at The Woodshed was an incredible experience. Trish and Ian are fantastic hosts, passionate about conservation and sustainable farming. They warmly welcomed us and even took us on a tour of their beautiful farm, where we saw native birds, trees, and bush. The Woodshed itself is cozy, authentic, and thoughtfully set up, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the stunning views. Booking this amazing place helps support their conservation efforts, which makes the stay even more special. We’re already planning to come back for a longer visit. Highly recommended!
This was the perfect place for us to go and bring our dog with us! It's cozy and comfortable the perfect size little cabin and loads more space to explore right out the front door.
We needed a place to stay that was dog friendly so we could bring our boy to get surgery and this was perfect. The owners were lovely and showed our boy so much love, he absolutely adored the place (especially meeting the cows and horse!)
It was really amazing to see all the wonderful work that's been done on the land to make it such a gorgeous place to explore.
Thank you so much for your hospitality and for providing such a beautiful space for us to stay.
Great little cottage/ woolshed conversion. Very quiet and private location with nice views. Dog loved the stay , playing with in-house friends and exploring. Nice rolling hills farmland for walks and fresh air. Comfortable , clean accommodation , well equipped and warm fireplace a bonus. Hosts very helpful.
