About this property
Farview Bach - Rural, beach, river and fishing!
Welcome to Farview Bach!
Kick back and relax, go fishing, collect drift wood, mix with the locals or go on a riverboat cruise - your choice! Farview bach is located 5mins north of Mokau. From the bach, it's only a 10min walk to the Awakino River (great for trout fishing and white-baiting during the season), and to the local pub.
En route to Mokau, you can stop off at the beach/estuary at Awakino Heads to swim or collect driftwood, or the beach by Seaview Motor Camp which is great for surf-casting. The beaches are good for surfing but take care - the ocean can be dangerous on the west coast, with rips and strong undertows. Mokau has two cafes and a museum, and you can arrange river cruises from Mokau.
Heading north - 2.5km will take you to Junction Service Station which stocks basic groceries, supplies, daily newspapers etc.
To reach the bach there's a short climb up a metalled farm track. The bach is situated in a fence section on farmland. It's private, light and spacious. It has a long history - starting it's life as the local Mokau school. Years later, it was relocated to it's current location, renovated, and has been a family bach for about the last 8 years.
There's a covered porch, entrance way, kitchen, laundry, bathroom with bath and shower, a bedroom area, huge living area, walk in wardrobe and Kauri floors throughout. Also an internal access garage with additional toilet and hand-basin. The bach is warm - has a wood burner and is draught-free due to aluminium joinery.
Sleeping: There's a double bedroom area, and other two beds are situated 'communal style' in the spacious, cathedral-roofed living room. There's another double bed located in the internal access garage (basic but carpetted) with it's own toilet and hand basin.
There are two decks, outdoor furniture and sun umbrella, plus magazines, books and jigsaws to help you relax. The bach is well suited to families and couples.
Special conditions:
Bring own linen (sheets and pillow cases), towels and tea towels
No smoking at the bach
Bach is situated on a grazing block. Please heed safety notices
Please take your rubbish and recycling when you leave. Recycling and refuse stations available Awakino, Piopio, Te Kuiti, Waitara, New Plymouth. Opening hours vary
Extras: Cleaning charge (Required, NZ$60.00 per stay); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
