The celebration of solitude
Deep in the bush in comfortable and attractive lodgings this place at Tuateawa was ideal for peace and quiet. The amenities provided were perfect for my week long get-away; cooking, showering, information pamphlets, reclining places, a neat deck and a brilliant view across a large sweep of bay via New Chums Beach and Whangapoua to a distant head land amounted in combination to magic; yes I am coming again, kind regards, Charl
Thanks for your super review - we look forward to hosting you again!
Enclosed by the bush, yet open to the view.
Great location. The already minimalist Tuateawa disappears as you take the driveway deeper into the bush, with a sense that there are neighbours there somewhere but fully shielded from them. The turning space at the end of the drive is marginal though manageable.
The house is basic but adequate with a bohemian Titirangi vibe. The photos don't show the open plan nature where the bedroom space is quite open to the front lounge area.
Expect active bird life; tui, kereru, wax-eyes, hopping and feeding close.
Expect bush insects; friendly bees, paper wasps, passion vine hopper, rockin big horse flies, and be ready for mosquitoes.
The view into the distance is a pleasant fall-back for even if the weather is bad and you're staying in, but areas of tree growth that block the view west to Mercury Island do make one feel as though they are missing out on what could be a more spectacular view, however the enclosure of the bush is part of the value of this location.
Perhaps add a map (topo or nautical)of the Coromandel on the wall to give a sense of location as you look across to Mercury Is, K'tunu and Matarangi, and help for planning excursions up the coast. Your best beach would probably be Little Bay 11min away.
Diane the manager was prepared, and has local knowledge to answer any questions. Check-in is easy.
Cellphone signal is on the low side (Spark), but you wouldn't come out here to sit on your phone all day would ya. Take care on those Coromandel roads.
Thanks Kent for taking the time to leave your informative feedback about Two in the Bush and recommendations as well - much appreciated :)
Slice of heaven
Magical spot in a piece of native Kiwiana
All communications were accurate, timely and high expectations were surprisingly and satisfyingly met
It’s a Magical getaway spot that requires a bit of effort to get there, but well worth it

Beautiful outlook and location for a character back
Beautiful outlook and location for a character back. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the surrounds.
great view, heaps of place to sleep.
great view, heaps of place to sleep. Gate was locked at the top though...
Hi there - the gate wasn't locked it was shut. There is chain latch on the inside of the gate which you needed to unhook to open the gate. We would have responded to a call from you and to let you know..... Cheers, Diane for Two in the Bush. :)
Tuateawa is located approximately 25 kms x Coromandel Town which is the main service and town. There are NO SHOPS or NO CAFES out this way.
