Homestay, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 8)
We are retired from Auckland and love meeting new people who have interests in what Matakana has to offer. Our hobbies are gardening, cooking and wine buffs. We love our animals and have a strong contact to the land. I love to swim in the summer months and do Yoga to keep fit also. Have a very close family of 4 adult children and 7 grandchildren and lots of dogs in each family of which we seem to look after often! Our family are into every sport I can think of and find Matakana is very lively all year round.
RobynWy2 purchased this House in 2001
Why RobynWy2 chose Matakana
We built this property ourselves and have set out the 1 hectre piece of land all ourselves. The view from our house which is on the property is spectacular down into Sandspit and the mariner. We designed the house ourselves and love the area we chose to live for its many activities available summer and winter.
What makes this House unique
Continental breakfast and bottle wine complimentary. Just let us know if you require the breakfast though please. There is a private courtyard out the back of the barn with your own BBQ all this looks into our own garden but you are away from the main house. The beauty of The Barn is that is in the country but close to all activities.
No refunds for cancellations made after payment is made
very cozy with bed that wants to make you spend the day in it!
Great! Lovely place and hospitality.
Very easy to deal with, lovely place to stay.
Fantastic, inspiring stay
We throughly throughly enjoyed our stay and loved the state of the art architectural design of the Barn - it was polished and beautifully decorated. Our hosts were charming and very welcoming.
Loved meeting Sid and Rosie (cute dogs also) the stars were spectacular at night and the teenagers loved their night out at matakana.
Well done, places like these are unique and very special.
we hope to be back!
Stylish place... comfortable and relaxing
Really enjoyed our getaway. Its certainly the classiest barn I’ve come across. More of an apartment than a barn. Great furnishings and linen and it was cosy. Excellent outside nooks too but unfortunately weather stopped us from using. Bit of road noise from upstairs bedrooms but otherwise excellent.
Awesome hosts and great place
Such a lovely place to stay, hosts are super friendly and welcoming. Perfect night away.
We have two sculpture parks which are a must to see. Wine tours and great restaurants all close by. The village is quaint and has a wonderful farmers market each Saturday and a clothing market on Sundays. Lots of cycling tracks and beaches all round us. Horse trekking with great fishing and swimming.
