QUIET AND PEACEFUL: ShortRidge sits on a 70 Acre Farm with Open Pastures, Woods, and the River Path leading down to the South Fork of the Kentucky River. You will go back in time to "Old Eastern Kentucky Country Living".

DESTINATION VACATION: You will not be the first Guest to just hang around John Parrish House and enjoy the Hot Tub, Gas Fire Pit, Gas Grill, and Fireplace. The Hot Tub, Fire Pit, and Gas Grill are conveniently located on the Covered Patio. The Fireplace is located in the Main Room.

From John Parrish House, or while walking the farm, you may see Deer, Wild Turkey and More!

Walks on ShortRidge and along the Kentucky River are Peaceful. The River Walk from John Parrish House to the far end of the River Bottom Pasture and back to the house is over 2 miles long. For the more adventuresome BobCat, a challenging trail, walks beneath Open Cliffs high above the river.

John Parrish House, with Full Kitchen, Gas Fireplace, Beautiful Cherry Planked Walls, Large Screen TV, and INTERNET is a calming place to spend time.

There is no reason to leave ShortRidge until it's time to return home.

OFF ROAD VEHICLES: RV's may be parked by the house, but NO RV USE is permitted on ShortRidge.

FIREARMS: FireArms are permitted on ShortRidge but NO Hunting or Shooting is Permitted.

OUT BUILDINGS: Do NOT enter any Out Buildings.

ANIMAL FREE ENVIRONMENT: The Majority of Guests Request an Animal Free Environment. To honor them, Animals are NOT permitted on ShortRidge. Guests who violate this rule will be Immediately Evicted Without a Refund and will be Responsible for Payment of an Additional $500 Cleaning Fee.

FOR SANITATION PURPOSES WE PROVIDE ONLY: Eating and Cook Ware. Guests must provide their own: Food. Beverages. Condiments. Spices. Coffee Filters or K-Cups. Aluminum Foil. Zip Lock Bags. Food Storage Containers. Specialized Cook Ware.

FOR SANITATION PURPOSES WE PROVIDE ONLY: Bottled Liquid Hand Soap. Laundry Soap. Dish Soap.

BED LINEN CLEANLINESS: Before Your Arrival the mattress cover, sheets, blanket, bedspread, pillow covers and cases are Laundered. Because of laundering practicality, only a lightweight blanket is used. We encourage you to maintain a comfortable temperature for sleeping by adjusting the HVAC temperature.

HOT TUB SANITATION: Before Your Arrival the Hot Tub is fully drained and refilled with Fresh Water. Chemicals are then added. Because the last Guests may have checked out the morning of your arrival you should not use the Hot Tub the night of your arrival without checking with us.

The Hot Tub does not cool down. Increase the temperature gradually. It should NOT be used by Young Children nor People with Medical Issues.

Minimalist cabin

Cabin location was in the middle of nowhere which was nice for privacy. If you are a minimalist, you’ll love it. There is no “homey” or “welcoming” feeling to it…No pictures on the wall, no cute decor except one snow man. No Kleenex only paper towel was included. Very BASIC cooking supplies. We ended up cooking most meals as most restaurants were closed which was unexpected. There wasn’t even a cheese grader. Coffee grounds were left from the previous person. They were moldy in both the keurig and coffee pot maker. We were rudely awoken up at 4am by the neighbors hunting dog barking profusely right outside our window. He barked till 6:30am and wouldn’t leave. We tried to chase him away. Very frustrating!! The 2&3rd night were better. Hot tub and fireplace were great. Beds were comfortable. We were allowed to check in early which was appreciated. Overall we had a nice time but we thought a few more little touches would be nice to be included given the cost.

Relaxing weekend retreat

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay at the John Parrish home. The listing was very accurate and didn’t leave us with any surprises to find once we arrived. The outdoor patio with grill, fire pit, and hot tub is where we spent the better part of our evenings. The property is breathtaking and has plenty of scenic views to explore. We couldn’t ask for better communication. The host’s provided us with great recommendations and replied within minutes of messaging them. Very nice appliances and the cookware did the trick. The only suggestion that we could make would be supplying a dish sponge to wash with. Overall, we can not wait to revisit the home in the future and look forward to our future stay.

Secluded Location

Great stay! Enjoyed the secluded location. My wife enjoyed the deer every morning and evening in the pasture. Close to town for groceries and gas. Little bit of a drive for the popular gorge hiking spots but appreciated the “off the beaten path” location.

Perfect!

Stayed here to celebrate 10 years married & 19 years together! Had a wonderful stay! Close to Red River Gorge & a Save-A-Lot grocery store is right around the corner. Beautiful home and property. Mornings are exactly as pictured...a gorgeous fog! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful Views

The cabin was warm and inviting with beautiful views everwhere you looked. The property's owners were wonderfully communicative and really gave us good information on the surrounding area. If you use GPS to get to the cabin it drops you short of the actual cabin. Follow the road till it ends at a red chained gate and you can see the cabin from there. We highly recommend this property.
