This property was perfect! It was close to the activities we had planned. It was in a low traffic area and had all of the amenities we wanted. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit and using the back deck to grill dinner. It was a beautiful and well kept property and all 5 of us would highly recommend!
This cabin is adorable and was enjoyed by our family while we came to do some hiking at Red River Gorge. Its a great break away from the world to relax and enjoy the outdoors!
We loved everything about our stay. The cabin had everything we needed to not have to leave all weekend. It was in good driving distance from everything but still secluded and peaceful just like we wanted. The firepit and firewood provided was a nice touch and fun to sit around and make s’mores. Will will definitely be back soon
Great property and location. Check in was simple and host was great with communication. Would recommend anyone to this place and will definitely stay again in future!
We had the best stay at this amazing property! Everything was perfect! We cannot wait to book our next visit to this cabin. The hot tub was so nice and relaxing. Everything was so clean and provided everything we needed!
Wonderful Stay with Plenty of Space and Things To Do Nearby
We had a wonderful stay at James and Elizabeth’s cabin! We wanted to stay close enough to Red River Gorge, but away from all the hustle and bustle and the cabin’s location was perfect. We were within 15-30 minutes driving from all the RRG activities we wanted to do. The cabin is very well maintained, clean, cozy and has everything you may need: fully equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, bedding, etc. We loved that the cabin had a spacious grass yard for the kids to run around. The owner was even kind enough to let our kids fish in a pond on his property. The hosts are kind and gracious people, we highly recommend their property and hope to be back!
Wife and I wanted to get away. So quiet and relaxing there. Could hear yourself think. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, firepit, porch swing, and gas fireplace. Saw deer right in front of the cabin.
Our family of five had a great stay. Close to popular rock climbing destinations such as Bald Rock, and an easy drive to everything around the RRG. I think what makes this property special is that the owners (whom we met on an evening walk) live down the street and take a personal interest in their properties and guests. Thanks!
We loved our stay here. The cabin is very clean, everything was in working order, the hosts were responsive, and it's in a beautiful location. We would 100% stay here again and recommend it to others.
Property was fantastic! Perfect for our family of 5! Easy access to hiking and attractions. Check in and out was easy, property exactly as described. Would stay here again!
This is an excellent cabin. Absolutely spotless and fully equipped with all necessary and extra items for enjoying a relaxing stay.
Great location 5 minutes from town but feels like a country stay.
Awesome value.

About the host
Hosted by James and Elizabeth Roach
James and Libby Roach. We're both the youngest of large families. We both grew up in Beattyville and chose to raise our family here. We've been married for 25 years and have two daughters, 23 and 20. I am an elected official(Property Valuation Administrator) in Lee County and James works in the construction business. We love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
We bought this 40 acre property because it is located close to our home. This 3rd generation family farm had been carefully cared for by our neighbor 'Bill' who lived a long life there. When he passed away in 2009, we purchased it from his family. We think of the property as 'Bill's Place', therefore we named it that. Bill was a real character in our small town and will not be easily forgotten. It didn't take long to realize how peaceful 'Bill's Place' was. We decided to remodel his home into the beautiful cabin it is today, and share it with others. The property is like many in our area. It was home to Bill's family where he and his siblings were raised by living off the land. There is evidence of the original homestead still there. The lawn has many fruit trees, planted by Bill. The barn wood on the walls of the upstairs in the cabin was taken from Bill's old barn. There is a picture of the barn hanging upstairs. We found heirloom, garden seeds in the barn from years ago. I was told by Bill's sister, Abby, that the rose in the front yard was brought from the original homestead and before that from another old homestead. She ask me to take care of her mother's rose. James and I feel like we are the caretakers of this wonderful property for now and will pass it on just as the family before us. The property's history shows it's self every time we are there. We feel honored be part of it.
What makes this property unique
Visiting 'Bill's Place' will be a peaceful getaway from the hustle of life. It will force you to slow down and enjoy nature while enjoying all the comforts of home. The area offers something for everyone. Many of our guests are here to visit family and friends for a homecoming. Many enjoy the Wooly Worm Festival held annually in October. If you love old cars, you'll want to visit Beattyville for car shows, street cruise-in and old engine and tractor shows. Lee County is known for horse riding, off road atv/jeep riding, world class rock climbing. Lee County is home to the Three Forks of the Kentucky River that offers boating and fishing. We are located near Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge, Red River Gorge Zipline Adventures. We are within minutes of The Lee County Recreational Center that offers bowling, fitness center, pizza, etc. Lee County has 1000's of acres of the Daniel Boone National Forest located here that offers hiking, bird watching, cycling, ect. Lee County offers Beattyville Country Club that is a 9 hole golf course.
