First of all, let me say the house and property is beautiful. That being said, there are a number of issues that should be resolved before they rent the house again - not doing so would be irresponsible and misleading to any renter. Due to the extremely soft water in the area, the showers are dangerously slippery. We had several older relatives and even ourselves that very easily could have slipped in the shower - bath mats should be a must here or someone will eventually fall and get hurt. The threshold leading to the Master bedroom is loose - trip hazard. The faucet in the furthest East bathroom drips. Where the wood floors have been added, the transition from tile to wood has a rise that every one of us stumbled over - this should be addressed or marked in a way as not to be the trip hazard it is. No hot water came out of the bathroom faucet in the Master bedroom. There was a mouse upstairs that we never found - if you see one, more are around. In various closets there were curtains that looked like they were torn down and just thrown onto the floor or shelves - given that there is access to the attic in two places upstairs if this is part of an ongoing renovation, there are better places to store these. It looked very trashy and unprofessional. Our first morning, the Keurig was dead, spilling coffee grounds everywhere and leaving us without coffee. The owner did send a replacement that arrived around dinner time that day, but we had to venture out to find coffee that morning. There are also some minor things like a TV in a front room that is sitting in a box, not being used anywhere. Speaking of - upstairs has a TV in only 1 of 3 bedrooms, and only 1 of 2 downstairs bedrooms. The biggest issue of all and an extremely misleading issue - the oven didn't work and the owner knew it. They didn't have anything on the rental website, nobody called us. They led us to believe it worked and they did nothing about it. This is a basic function of a house rental and is completely unacceptable - I never would have even rented the house had I know this. We had family arriving for dinner and were left with a toaster oven. We were refunded some money for this, but we had to point it out in the first place, they never intended to do anything about this otherwise. It also wasn't enough of a refund. This is at minimum false advertising, people should be given the option to cancel ahead of time which I would have done had I been told. This house should not be rented as is
