Not quite what we expected
First, let me start by saying that Sheila is a very nice person. She is friendly and responds to questions in a timely manner. However, we felt that the property was somewhat misrepresented in the advertisement. I do see now that her ad has been changed but some things do need to be clarified. First and foremost... I would not call this rental an "entire guest house" as it is actually more of a basement apartment. There is no traditional kitchen, no traditional stove just a bed / bath / laundry room and a "living area" with a stocked full sized fridge. You will have to do your dishes in the bathroom sink. Thankfully it is a large farm-style sink. Cooking equipment provided include a microwave, a smoker (if you have a LOT of time to smoke your meals) and also a propane griddle. Fortunately, we had been camping and had propane with us. Having said that...I am sure that Sheila would have gotten us some if we had asked. In the ad, it also states that the owner works 16 hours per day and "stops by" at midnight. Again, let me clarify...the owner LIVES there and works night shift returning home about 2-4 am. As this is a very quite property, you will hear her come home and walk about her house as it is above the apartment.
Many of the pictures are taken of the porch of the upstairs house. We were told we could use that porch as we liked, but knowing that she was most likely sleeping after a long night shift, we did not feel comfortable "hanging out" on her porch.
While we can say our overall experience was ok, we feel that if we had know all of these details in advance, we probably would have stayed elsewhere.
