About this property
Quiet Beach Get-Away Near Cardigan, PEI
Spend your summer vacation on a quiet getaway in Eastern PEI. This cottage has a beach across the lawn, across the dirt road and down the beach stairs - great for swimming, kayaking, beach combing (for shells or BEACH GLASS), clam digging or just basking in the sun.
We're 35 minutes from Charlottetown, 30 minutes from the notable 'singing sands' beach of Basin Head Beach, 15 min from Brudenell Golf Resort, 20 min from supermarkets in Montague and 12 min from the village of Cardigan, where you can get a fill-up (of gas or spirits) enjoy a lobster dinner or first class dining and find a couple of churches.
The Space
You'll find everything you need - lots of chairs for sunning on the beautiful deck and a covered pergola for getting out of the sun; a screened-in porch for getting out of the rain or away from bugs; an outdoor shower (the best on the street!!) for leaving the sand outdoors (and of course an indoor one too!); and a pellet stove for cool mornings.
***Please be sure to bring beach shoes. Unfortunately, following Hurricane Fiona, our beach has been left with less sand and more rock. However, the great 'warm water' swimming and wonderful low tide sandbars haven't been affected.
The Space
The cottage, grounds, beach stairs, beach and kayaks are yours to use while you're there - of course, at your own risk. There'll be wood available for you, should you decide to have a beach campfire.
If you bring your bikes, there's great biking and walking on the road out front. If walking on trails is your thing, there are wonderful trails in Cardigan though the woods - second to none!

About the host
Hosted by Barbara
My name is Barbara and together with my husband, Peter, we've been hosting for 8 years. Our home is in Nova Scotia, but I'm a native PEIslander and when we are hosting, we staying in the village of Cardigan in our old homestead. We've loved this experience, having had the chance to meet wonderful families and seeing our little piece of Heaven though their eyes - thus, appreciating all the more.
Why they chose this property
This area was where we had our family cottage as we grew up. We've enjoyed this beach for over 50 years,
What makes this property unique
The sunsets, the beach walks, the eagles, the warm water, the tide pools at low tides with green crabs, little fishies and razor clams spitting up at you all are what's special about this place. Kayaking around the bend to the Marsh behind the cottage can be magical as well.
