Prior to our stay, I tried to communicate with the owner but never received a response. When we arrived, the door wouldn't unlock. Fortunately, I was eventually able to reach the owner, who had a spare key stashed nearby so we could get in.During our stay, we had to troubleshoot both the refrigerator and the air conditioning unit to get them working properly. While the sheets and most surfaces were clean, there were cobwebs and bugs throughout the cabin. We also ended up washing several dishes before using them because they didn't appear to be clean. In addition, there were no extra rolls of toilet paper provided, so we had to purchase our own.One important concern is that two of the rooms being used as bedrooms have no window, which may not meet local fire safety requirements to be used as bedrooms.Overall, the cabin itself was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay, but it would benefit from better cleaning, more consistent maintenance, and improved communication from the owner.
We used this place while our friends were in town and our home was under construction. It was the perfect amount of space and the house had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.
Very nice stay, home was clean and had all the needed items to make the stay worry free. Kitchen well stocked with all the supplies needed to cook just about anything. Extra supplies, except toilet paper, were easy to find and easily accessible. Would recommend. NOTE: access road to the property is a bit tough on cars and if your vehicle sits close to the ground may have to walk up.
Our stay was great. Huge lot/pasture for the dogs to run around and play. No one was around. Very private. The driveway needed to be plowed upon arrival but the host communicated well.
Great location to enjoy Star Valley. Great hikes and floating the Salt River. Could use some KC and updates. Worked well for our family of 7 adults and 3 children. Comfortable.
The house was beautiful. The view was fabulous. Everything went smoothly.
Only 2 issues: several lights burned out, needed new bulbs.
Couldn't find Apple Remote.
Beautiful family cabin in the perfect location. Amazing mountain views all around. Was able to work remotely with no issues. Only thing I would make sure to note is that you must have 4-Wheel drive to access cabin as the drive up to the cabin is quite steep and rocky. Only issue we had was that were not able to find the apple remote. Really enjoyed our stay and felt right at home.
We chose location due to proximity to national parks. The house has way more beds than we needed and was well stocked with kitchen appliances and equipment, which isn't normal these days. Host was very responsive and supportive. The only down side was their guest book was full, congrats on over sharing your place for so many years with so many wonderful comments.

Snowmobile vacation
The house was nice, but could have used a cleaning before we arrived. Previously occupied a month before. House hold supplies were in short supply.....toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwasher soap, etc. Driveway was very steep and we could not make it up with a four wheel drive truck. It would be fine in the non winter months. The owners were quick to respond to our request to have the driveway plowed @ twice.
My husband and I reserved Mika’s family cabin for a family vacation with some of his siblings and a few of their children. We came to the area to see the Bar J Wranglers perform just outside of Jackson Hole(about an hour away). We stayed three nights and loved to see deer wander on and off of the property. The kitchen and shaded porch were perfect for cooking and eating meals. We enjoyed the nice grill for one meal. We loved the hike up to a spring just outside of Afton and ice cream at the Country Farm a little ways further. Our cabin was perfectly located between Jackson Hole and Afton. We loved the convenience of grocery stores and gas stations in either direction that were not too far away, but still enjoyed the seclusion of pine and aspen trees. Thank you, Mika, for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.

We’re so glad you enjoyed the cabin and your stay in Star Valley! Sounds like you loved it as much as we do! Thank you for being such wonderful guests. - Mika
Very satisfied. Property beautiful, as advertised or better. Host pleasant and very responsive. Road construction in summer 2021 made ride up to Tetons 75 mins instead of 45. The drive is scenic.
If you need to talk to Mika, send a text first.
Also, recommend the host include specific directions to find the property starting from highway 89. It’s simple once you know, but tricky if you don’t. We had a great time biking and rafting. Highly recommend this property as a quiet place to stay within easy drive to TNP at a great price.

Thanks for staying at our cabin Paul. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the area and took advantage of all it has to offer. Rafting the Snake is our favorite way to spend time in the area. Thanks for mentioning the directions. Most GPS apps will guide you directly there but written directions would be a good backup if GPS doesn't work for some reason. I was happy to help guide you in. Thanks again!

This property was a major letdown and not as advertised. It's listed as a 5-bedroom home, but one of those is a loft (with no privacy), and two are in the basement without proper egress windows—making them unsafe in case of a fire. The dryer vents directly into the laundry room, pushing lint and fumes into the air, which is especially concerning for anyone staying downstairs. There were multiple safety hazards throughout the property: exposed wiring on a baseboard heater (definitely not child-safe), loose stair and deck railings, dirty and rippled carpet that posed tripping risks, and an outdoor deck with loose boards and protruding nails.Cleanliness was also a major issue. Upon arrival, we had to wash all the dishes and bedding because they were visibly dirty. The entire house was dusty and felt neglected. On top of that, the property was extremely difficult to locate—GPS couldn’t even find it.While the owner did respond to messages, concerns were brushed off as if they weren’t real problems. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property and advise future guests to be cautious before booking.
Bones and structure of cabin has a lot of potential if it was kept maintained. From the wobbling railing on the deck, mini split a/c unit stuffed full of dust and dead bugs that didn't work, dirty bedding with stains, and stains on the rippling carpet that is a trip hazard. Description of property states apple tv which is the only TV, does not have a remote. When asked, Host said it was there somewhere. They said the haven't had this problem but at least two reviews said they also couldn't find the remote. Toilet seat in the upstairs bathroom is broken on one side. Went to use the blow dryer and it was broken. Went to unplug the broken dryer and outlet came out of wall. Went to lock the door before bed on the first night and it was so loose that it wouldn't lock. My husband found a screw driver in the closet and fixed it, as well as burnt out lights on porch and in the refrigerator. This was our 20th Anniversary trip that we had to save for, and ultimately left property a day early and had the added cost of a hotel room for each couple.

Vrbo does not help the customer
The property was beautiful! When we arrived, the doors were wide open. We were concerned. We never figured out why they were not shut. Two families stayed together. We both arrived within 10 minutes of each other late Saturday evening around 10:30pm. We talked and visited for a few hours and then everyone went to bed. After laying down, my sister-in-law texted asking if I was still awake to come to the main level bathroom. She asked me if the bug she had on a paper towel looked like a bedbug. I had worked as a community resource advocate in the school system, so I have seen several bedbugs, and it definitely was a bedbug. I instantly took all of my belongings to the vehicle. She, trying to have to best outlook, suggested maybe it was just one and somehow it got there, but we'd be okay. With my reservations, I went along with it to not seem too picky. The next morning, one teen that slept in a loft bed was making her bed and found a second bug. When we got it in a bag and identified it as a second bedbug, she asked of the bumps on her forehead looked like a bedbug bite, and indeed they were 3 in a row.
The owner worked with us and did everything she could. Our problem lies with greedy VRBO. You guys refused to refund our money stating that 2 bedbugs were not enough to give us our money back. The owner instructed us to contact you 1st so we could get the entire refund or else VRBO would keep their portion....which is exactly what happened. The owner gave her entire amount back and greedy VRBO refused. We were told there had to be more pics than 2 bedbugs. Uhhh okay!!! I am certain that if there were 2 bedbugs, there were more.

We've never had any problems with our cabin. This guest seemed to have so many troubles. We had the property fully inspected by a licensed pest control company who found NO evidence of bed bugs what so ever. Still, to be on the safe side, we had them do a full treatment. He said if there are any bed bugs you definitely see evidence after you treat (because they come out to die). We didn't find one bug before or after treatment. We still gave her a full refund even though she would not check out of the property. Her group stayed their whole stay despite the many problems they said they were having and we still refunded her money. We've never had a guest be harder on our property than this group. Honestly, the whole thing just seemed fishy and I feel that we got taken advantage of. We have the property inspected and treated for the usual pests (spiders, ants, termites, etc..) seasonally. There's never been a problem before and since this guest.
A beautiful cabin that accommodated my entire family of 14. We had a wonderful stay, visiting Teton National Park, Teton Village for the tram rides. Horseback riding adventure and much more. Would highly recommend! Host was great with all communication.
The cabin had a great wrap around porch. There was enough room for everyone. We hope to come back again!

About the host
Hosted by Mika Barber
This is our cherished family cabin that our grandparents built in 1995. Now, my dad, my brother and I own it. We use it often for our families as we love to ski at Jackson Hole Resort, we love to river raft the Snake River, and we love to spend cozy time inside in the winter while the kids sled in the driveway or nearby hills.
Why they chose this property
This is the perfect serene getaway. Star Valley is a low-key mountain getaway. There's pleny of outdoor entertainment anytime of year and the scenery couldn't be more stunning no matter the season.
