About the host
Hosted by Alex

Ivy the Stafforshire Bull Terrier, Fern the rescue Cat and I are continually keeping up with the garden, but also enjoy music, nature, travel, good food and drinks (especially Ivy!) and going on adventures.
After using Stayz and other accommodation platforms extensively myself, I decided to sacrifice my craft space and create The Studio Majors Creek. While new to hosting, I’m not new to travelling and staying in all kinds of places (on all kinds of budgets). I understand the place you stay can make or break your experience.

Why they chose this property
I am fifth generation from the Braidwood district. After moving away and living in Capital Cities and travelling the world, I returned Braidwood 20 years ago and have been living in Majors Creek for the past 15 years. Majors Creek is a gorgeous village of about 250 people. It is peaceful, full of wildlife and a fabulous place to live.
What makes this property unique
Tucked away on an acre of lovingly tended gardens, this storybook studio is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience, a feeling, a retreat. From the moment you arrive, you feel instantly at ease. The studio with its 12-foot raked ceilings and warm timber features, feels like it’s been plucked from the pages of a fairytale — quietly charming, full of heart, and deeply comforting. You won’t find marble floors or crystal chandeliers here, and that’s the beauty of it. This is not a place that tries to impress — it welcomes. It wraps you in a sense of calm and coziness the moment you cross the threshold. Every corner feels cared for, lived in, and deeply loved.
In the garden you can stroll among cottage flowers, sit quietly under the shade of old trees, or explore the dedicated succulent garden. It’s not just the plants that bring the garden to life — it’s the animals too. Rabbits, a resident wombat and kangaroos can been seen daily. The air is filled with birdsong — kookaburras, fairy wrens, black cockatoos, gang gangs, sulphur crested’s, owls and stain bower birds call the garden home.
At dusk, the garden takes on a whole new character — the fire pit crackles, and It’s the perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine, share stories, or simply lay in the hammock. This is a place where time feels slower.
It’s not showy, and it’s not trying to be — and that’s exactly what makes it so special. You don’t have to dress up here. You don’t have to pretend. You can kick off your shoes, curl up with a cup of tea, and feel, quite simply, at home. The studio has a soul. For those looking for a place that’s not about prestige or polish, but about warmth, welcome, and the kind of quiet comfort that stays with you long after you leave — this little studio in the garden is waiting for you.
