About this property
Peaceful Kyogle Farmstay with Animals
Summary:
Welcome to a peaceful stay where the host has anticipated your needs and taken care of the small details. This quiet country escape is suited to couples, solo travellers, and small families looking to unwind, recharge and enjoy farm life. Thoughtfully styled with quality amenities and animals roaming in the backdrop, it is the perfect space to rest and reset. At Galloway Downs, nothing is required of you but to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
The Space:
Clean, light-filled and tastefully decorated, The Cottage features two bedrooms with quality (and comfortable!) bedding, a spacious air-conditioned living area, and the kind of quiet that makes a good night’s sleep come easily. It’s a place to settle in, slow down, and enjoy a break from life as the farm unfolds around you.
“Such a peaceful setting. The Cottage felt cosy, welcoming, and incredibly relaxing — exactly what we needed.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a barista-style espresso machine for a decent morning coffee, along with convenience appliances such as an air fryer and dishwasher. Other inclusions our guests love: free range eggs and fresh milk for your arrival.
Sit under the stars of a night, fairy lights twinkling, or light the fire pit for toasty winter nights.
Set on a 50-acre working farm, The Cottage enjoys peaceful surrounds and a gentle animal backdrop.
Guests love seeing the Belted Galloway cattle, horses, chickens, sheep, and Darcy the pig roaming naturally as part of everyday farm life.
This is a calm, low-key stay that our guests continually say they enjoy for:
- The peace and quiet, and how easy it is to truly switch off
- A clean, comfortable space with quality bedding and restful sleep
- Thoughtful details that make the Cottage feel welcoming and cared for
- Great coffee and homely comforts
- A relaxed farm setting and friendly animals
Well-behaved pets are welcome for a small additional fee. The Cottage is best enjoyed over a minimum two-night stay, allowing time to unwind and settle in properly. It’s about comfort, calm, and switching off — simple, down-to-earth, and thoughtfully done, in a little slice of country heaven.
Guest Access:
The Cottage is privately positioned, giving guests a strong sense of space and seclusion while still being part of the wider farm.
Settle in and spend most of your time at the Cottage or choose to explore the 50 acre property.
Guests are welcome to access the Bales Bar, our communal hangout space — a relaxed spot for a game of darts or a wood-fired pizza.
Exclusive use can be arranged if you’d prefer complete privacy.
Animal encounters are organic and unstructured. There are no planned activities or scheduled interactions — guests simply enjoy seeing the animals as part of the everyday rhythm of farm life and can interact with them (with supervision) if they choose.
For sweeping views, take a wander to the ridge top, where a picnic table offers a quiet place to watch the sun set over the Border Ranges.
Host interaction is friendly but unobtrusive — guests are welcome to enjoy their stay independently, knowing help is available if needed.
The Neighborhood:
Homeleigh is quiet and rural, surrounded by small farms and open countryside, with the Border Ranges in the distance. Galloway Downs sits just 10 minutes from Kyogle, a relaxed country town with cafés, local shops, artisans, and classic pubs. The Cottage is well placed for hiking, cycling, waterfall drives, and scenic exploring, with Nimbin and Lismore an easy drive away. Byron Bay is just over an hour away for a beach day.
Getting Around:
A car is essential in this rural location. A small taxi service is available (we suggest booking in advance), and public buses run during the week. An express train service to Brisbane runs once a day and we recommend confirming the timetable.
Other Things to Note:
To respect everyone’s space, the main homestead and pool aren’t part of general guest access unless arranged in advance.
Being a farmstay, you may hear animals at various times throughout your stay, including early mornings.
Interaction with Guests:
Arrival is simple and easy, with contactless access via a lockbox, allowing you to arrive when it suits and settle in without fuss. While your stay is designed to feel independent and relaxed, we’re always happy to say hello if we cross paths and are available should you need anything during your stay.

We had a relaxing time with our small dog and the animals were great with him.The property was perfect for what we wanted and Alicia made sure we felt welcome. We will be back.
The cottage felt clean, homely and was very comfortable for our week stay. There was plenty of soft linen available and the bed and pillows were comfortable. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals and views of rolling hills each day and spent a lot of time walking our dogs around the farm - the dogs enjoyed their stay too. Overall it was easy to see the care that the host puts into making the cottage that extra bit special. Thank you
