About this property
Kyogle Farmstay - Charming Country Cottage
Summary:
Relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of country living at Galloway Downs. The Cottage is a two-bedroom retreat that blends modern comforts with rustic charm, offering a cozy space to unwind. Step outside to stunning sunsets, a fire pit, and friendly farm animals. Whether you prefer peaceful relaxation or getting your shoes dirty exploring, there's no shortage of ways to enjoy farm life at Galloway Downs.
The Space:
The Cottage is a recently built, sweet and light-filled space, perfect for couples looking for a peaceful getaway or a small family wanting to experience the country life. This 2 bedroom retreat has got everything you need – comfy beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and a living space that feels just like home. We’ve made sure that while you’ll enjoy all the comforts you’d expect from a 5-star stay, we’ve kept it simple and down-to-earth – no fuss, just relaxation.
The kitchen is stocked with quality appliances, including an espresso machine for your morning pick-me-up, a dishwasher to make clean-up a breeze, and an air fryer for easy, delicious meals. Whether you’re whipping up a simple breakfast or cooking a special dinner, you’ll have all the tools you need. Plus, with reverse cycle air conditioning, you’ll stay comfy no matter the season – keeping things cool in summer and cozy in winter.
On our 50-acre property, you’ll meet our beloved Belted Galloway cattle, cheeky chickens, curious sheep, and the loveable Mr Darcy, the farm pig. Your four-legged companions are always welcome here too, and they’ll love exploring the farm as much as our farm dogs do. Just a heads-up – there’s a small pet fee, which can be paid at booking or on arrival.
Guest Access:
Feel free to bunker down in The Cottage for the duration of your stay and enjoy the peace and quiet, or explore the farm at your leisure. There’s plenty to discover, including the Bales Bar, our communal hangout spot. It’s a great place to toss a dart or get a bit creative with the wood-fired pizza oven. If you'd prefer some privacy, just ask – we can arrange exclusive use of the space for your group.
For the best views, take a wander to the top of the ridge. There’s a picnic table up there where you can kick back and watch the sun dip behind the Border Ranges.
Just a gentle reminder – please respect the privacy of the main homestead and avoid the pool unless we’ve made arrangements in advance.
The Neighborhood:
Homeleigh is as quiet and peaceful as it gets. Our farm is just 10 minutes from Kyogle, a tiny country town that moves at its own pace and is vibrant in a small country town way. The surrounds are made up of small farms and beautiful scenery, with the Border Ranges in the distance. It’s a peaceful spot where you can really reconnect with nature, whether you’re hiking, cycling, or just enjoying the wide-open spaces as you explore.
Kyogle has everything you need for a low-key day out: cute cafes, local shops, artisans and crafts, and a couple of country pubs where you can enjoy a cold drink after a day of exploring. If you want to go a bit further, Nimbin’s quirky vibe is just a short drive away, and Lismore offers arts, culture, and a good mix of local happenings. Byron Bay is a little over an hour away if you fancy some beach time.
Getting Around:
Kyogle’s a small town, so a car is the easiest way to get around. If you need a ride, Kyogle has a local taxi service – we’ve got the details here in The Cottage for you. Public buses can take you to nearby towns, and there’s a train to Brisbane once a day, though you’ll want to check the timetable in advance.
Interaction with Guests:
Your host, Alicia, will be on hand during your stay to help with any questions you have or any recommendations for the local area. You'll find her number on your welcome screen when you checkin, or if you see her around the farm go say hi!
