About this property

Unique private accessible guestsuite architect designed urban cabin, Launceston.

Relax & unwind in our Suite Shed; in an old orchard garden, this traditional Tasmanian shed has been converted into a warm, self-contained guest suite with wheelchair accessible bathroom & kitchenette.

Relax on your own deck under the apricot tree.
Curl up on the day bed with a book or Netflix.

Once you feel revived & ready to explore, you are close to Heritage Forest Park, North Esk River, UTAS Stadium, free Tiger bus, QVMAG museum, Harvest Market, Launceston City Centre & Cataract Gorge.

Designed by alsoCAN architects, and recently featured in Dwell design magazine, this unique place has a style all its own. The beautiful texture of timber boards and rusted metal have been exposed inside, with new roof and walls to the outside so it is fully insulated. A warm rustic urban cabin.

Inserted inside this guest suite shed is an architecturally designed living room, bedroom, and bathroom. A queen sized daybed can be closed off the living room as a second bedroom.
Enjoy a heavenly sleep on award winning Sleeping Duck mattresses with Dunlopillo latex pillows.

It is an inclusive space. A decorated shed designed for low vision and accessibility. You can retreat from the world in a sensory egg chair. If you have low vision there are handrails with movement sensor lights to help you navigate, plus a talking microwave and induction cooktop in the kitchenette. And the bathroom and kitchen are wheelchair accessible.

Say hello to your new very furry friends, our two Collies (Rough); mother Cienna and Minnie, her daughter. They are Lassie dogs so they love people and are a calm and comforting presence, but they also love a good bark at passersby, evil bin trucks and neighbouring cats. We keep them inside with us most of the time and at night. If you want to see more of them, they would love to hang out with you, otherwise we can keep them away so they don’t disturb you.

Suite Shed is at the rear of our house, a Californian Bungalow on a large inner suburban block.

You will have the self-contained guest suite and deck for your own personal use and your own path to the street. It looks out on to a large backyard with old fruit trees and a view to the hills on the other side of the North Esk River.

We have temporary fencing between the deck and the backyard so that our dogs don't escape and take themselves for a walk.

There is a gate you can close along your path if you want to remove the temporary fence to play with our dogs or enjoy the back yard. Or you can just step over the fence to access the back yard. The back yard is not wheelchair accessible though but your deck is.

There is an apricot tree where you can pick fruit in season from the deck seat.

We work from home so are usually around. Walk back to the street front to our yellow front door if you have any questions, issues or just want to say hello.

We moved to Tasmania from mainland Australia 6 years ago, so we still feel like tourists here and are happy to share tips on things to do on this beautiful island.

Please do not book if you are allergic to dogs or dog hair.
We have two long haired dogs who shed a lot of fur. Although they are not sharing the space with you, they may share some of their fur.

The concrete floor is unsealed for a "sheddy" look and so that is is as non-slip as possible for wheelchair / ambulant users. It may feel a little sandy underfoot.

If you notice the LED strip lighting under the handrails turning on and off as you walk by and you find it annoying, you can turn them off at the light switches. They are on movement sensors for people with low vision to navigate the space at night.
