Eric is a wonderful host. The cabin is pleasant. The surrounding property is very peaceful, remote and easy to explore. My kids, our dogs and ourselves thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Eric (me) and Josie grew up in the Castor area, met and started dating in high school in the 1980's. We both went to the University of Alberta, with me getting a B.Sc. Ag degree for my first degree and Josie getting a B.Sc. OT degree. Josie has had a career as an Occupational Therapist, while Eric has been an agricultural researcher and educator, an entrepreneur, and a classroom science teacher over the years. We ended up in Calgary and then Okotoks after university, but moved home to Castor in 1998 to raise our children here. We have 3 adult children and celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2025.

Why they chose this property

Our home, the cabin, and our other glamping sites are located on Josie's family's farmland (5 quarters) that have been in the family for nearly 100 years. The cabin overlooks 200 acres of Alberta coulees (valleys and badlands) for a great view.

What makes this property unique

Guests at the cabin enjoy access to 640 acres (4 quarter sections) of land that includes 200 acres of coulees with great hills and trails to hike or mountain bike on. The cabin and area are especially popular with pet owners because of the privacy and freedom for their pets to join in on a hike or a bike ride. There is also an authentic farm stay experience to be had with the Neilson Beef (our nephew and niece's) cattle grazing in pastures around our various glamping sites at various times of the year, If you are a little shy of the cattle, which are generally very quiet, all of our glampsites are separated by a rail fence to prevent the cattle from intruding too closely on your glamping experiences. We aspire to be the home of the "Low Density Glamping Guarantee". This means that all of our glampsites are guaranteed to be very private, where your view of any other glampsites is obscured by trees and/or are a minimum of 400 m (0.4 km or ¼ of a mile) away from each other.
