About this property
Rustic Charm Meets Relaxed Privacy. Unique Stay 5 Acres with Outdoor Bali Vibes
Escape to The Donga, A Quiet, Character-Filled Retreat Just Outside Darwin.
Welcome to 'The Donga' our rustic, self-contained hideaway nestled on a peaceful 5-acre block. If you're craving space, stillness, and a chance to unwind away from the noise of city life, this is your spot. We created 'The Donga' during the renovation of our main home, and it became a space we truly loved – cosy, private, and full of charm.
Set in a quiet rural area, you'll enjoy privacy, fresh air, and regular visits from local wildlife – owls, frogs, and all sorts of birds. Nature lovers will especially appreciate the sounds and sights both day and night.
Inside the Space
'The Donga' features a comfortable queen-sized bed, a private bathroom with a hot shower and toilet, plus a washing machine for longer stays. The main living space includes Wi-Fi, a TV with streaming services, there is also a work desk and of course the basic comforts like air conditioning, fans and lighting to make your stay enjoyable.
Outdoor Living
What really sets this place apart is the outdoor area, which we built using materials left from our Bali Hut business (a little creative reuse after COVID). It's shaded, with fans, comfy outdoor seating, and plenty of space to enjoy a quiet coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at sunset. There’s also an outdoor fire pit, perfect for cooler evenings under the stars.
Peaceful Surroundings
Originally the block was cleared for horses, over the years we have been planting native trees, to attract the birdlife, and to compliment the large shade trees we have. It’s an ideal base for those who want to explore Litchfield National Park, Kakadu, or Darwin without being stuck in city traffic. After a day of adventure, you’ll come back to peace, quiet, and wide open skies.
Why Guests Love It
Super quiet and private – ideal for couples, solo travellers, or digital nomads
Great location for exploring the Top End – no need to battle Darwin traffic
Relaxed and unique space with a personal story behind it
Outdoor space with Bali-style charm
Close encounters with wildlife – especially in the early morning and evening
Whether you're here for a few nights or a longer stay, 'The Donga' is a space to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature. We’re happy to offer local tips and a friendly wave, but we also respect your privacy so you can enjoy the space however you like.
