This one room studio apartment has just been renovated and is located on our small farm where we grow vegetables and fruit trees. The house is made out of rammed earth, placed just a few meters from the gorgeous river of Seixe, surrounded by green hills and fields. The valley is very calm and full of animals such as cows, horses, goats, sheep, donkeys and pigs. In the hot days you can take a cooling dip in the river or visit the amazing beach only 6 km away!
In the hot sunny days you can jump to the cool river, or go to the Eco pool which is active in June July and August, if water condition allows the entrance.
In the end of 2015 we started to rebuild the house, that has two apartments. This apartment was just finished now in 2020. We have put a lot of effort and personal touch into every corner of the building.
We have been building the bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom our selves with help from volunteers and some workers. It has been a long and exciting journey and we are extremely happy with the results :)
The house is made out of rammed earth, perfect for the climate in the area since the house stays cool in the day and warms up naturally at night.
The house has a spacious and fully equipped kitchen area, with a gas stove, electric oven, refrigerator and all the utensils you will need to create memorable meals on your vacation.
In the living room area there is a bed sofa that folds out to a double bed in the living area.
Behind the sofa is a very comfy king size bed.
The bathroom is spacious and has a beautiful shower and home made sink, and of course a toilet. The house can host 3 persons.
Depending on season and situation of the garden, we offer guests home grown organic seasonal veggie-boxes for a voluntary donation.
We have created our own grey-water-cleaning-system, which means we are filtering all the waste water coming from the shower, sink and kitchen. Therefor we provide guests with eco-friendly soap and washing-up soap. We are recycling all the garbage waste, in the house you will find recycling-bins and a compost bin for organic waste. The hot water in the house is heated up by the sun in a solar powered tank.
In the hot days you can take a cooling dip in the river. There is free wifi, nice places to sit outside and parking 50m from the house (we can arrange to help you unload/load your luggage closer to the house on arrival/departure).
We are very proud of what we have created since we came to Portugal 6 years ago and we would love to share it with you :)
Guests will be staying in our farm, where we live and work daily on the land. This summer we might host a volunteer or two that will help us in the garden and with other maintenance. We will be renting 3 other newly restored units on our property, the houses/apartments are close to each other but all have private outside areas so that you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings in peace and quiet. We will be "glamping" on the land during the summer months and we will be around if you have any questions or need directions or tips about what to do in the area.
They valley of Seixe is a place full of wild life and beautiful vegetation. There are endemic species of trees here and the area around the river brings many birds, such as stork, eagle, azure-winged magpie, black kite and crane.
In the hills surrounding us there is grouse, wild pigs and the very rare and beautiful genet.
The river starts in the mountain of Monchique and meets the Atlantic ocean in the beach of Odeceixe.
Odeceixe is full of life in the summer with tourists from northern Europe but also a lot of Portuguese people come here to enjoy the rural environment and the spectacular beaches of the Costa Vicentina.
You will have no problem finding nice restaurants and in the municipal market place you can buy fresh and locally produced vegetables, fish- and seafood and meat.
There is a post office and ATM in Odeceixe.
If you like surfing this is the place to be! There are plenty of "surf-beaches" in the area and you can rent boards and suits in all the bigger beaches (including Praia de Odeceixe) and towns.
