About this property

Ivy Place Harajuku: Urban Steel Teahouse

Escape to our serene oasis steps from Harajuku's lively streets. This charming wooden house features traditional beams, modern concrete floors, and lush ivy vines that blend indoors and out. Inspired by Zen gardens, it's perfect for nature lovers seeking tranquility amid Harajuku's vibrant heart.

Ivy Harajuku: Urban Steel Tea House, a tranquil yet stylish escape nestled just steps from the vibrant heart of Harajuku. This beautifully restored traditional wooden house effortlessly blends historic Japanese aesthetics with an industrial chic atmosphere, creating a unique stay unlike any other.

The property is a living, breathing organism, one with the plant that embraces the building. If living surrounded by greenery excites you then this is for you. Some of the plant matter is even growing inside.

Meiji Jingumae Station:
700m (10min)
Fukutoshin Line (shibuya, shinjuku, nakameguro, ikebukuro, yokohama)

Harajuku Station:
850m (12min)
JR Yamanote Line

The two story house has a top floor bedroom with:

1 double size bed
1 semi double bed

and on the lower floor:
1 semi double sofa bed.

Please be advised that although technically six people can sleep on these three beds, it is very very cozy and two to four is more advisable.

The interior celebrates traditional Japanese craftsmanship with exposed wooden beams and sleek concrete floors, while lush ivy vines naturally drape across the walls, creating an enchanting indoor-outdoor experience. With no interior walls, the open, airy space invites natural light and calm.

Inspired by the elegance of Kyoto’s Katsura Imperial Palace and renowned Zen gardens designed by Mirei Shigemori, the space offers tranquility amidst Harajuku’s bustling energy. Whether sipping tea surrounded by ivy or simply relaxing after exploring the neighborhood's fashion boutiques, cafes, and landmarks, this serene yet centrally located retreat provides a perfect balance.

Ideal for couples, artists, or travelers seeking authenticity with a modern twist, the Urban Ivy Tea House promises an unforgettable Tokyo experience.

The entire house is rented to a single group (no sharing) you have access to everywhere in the house

If you need help I am simply a message away

This house is ideal for those who love nature, love the idea of staying in a living house, and as this is a living house there are actual living ivy vines inside and outside of the house. Enjoy this while you can as in the future this house will be renovated and transformed into a larger version of it (with as many ivy preserved as possible). There probably is not another property like it in Japan. And did we mention the location?
