About this property
Bright, spacious Acadian Home with country views and in reach of Acadian Shores!
Enjoy the bright, spacious feel of this historical (1837), fully renovated country home. On an acre of property with both mature trees and large lawn, ready yourself to unwind and breathe in the clean ocean air from nearby St. Mary’s Bay. Not only is the ocean close by but prepare yourself for the unmasked night sky. Can you pick out the constellations? Relax by a fire at our fire pit. Perhaps you'll hear owls nearby or coyotes in the distance. Enjoy the twitter of Warblers, Kinglets and other songbirds.
But that’s just what nature has given us, what about inside? A home built for large families, you’ll enjoy the front living room for your morning coffee, or conversation space. As much natural light as you’d like and sufficient lamps for your evenings. Then, there’s the country kitchen, with an enviable amount of both counter space, cupboards and dining area, fully equipped for any meals you decide to make. A BBQ is conveniently located on the deck outside of the kitchen with a patio table where you can dine el fresco if you choose.
We’re rural but don’t worry, you’ll still have access to high speed internet to stay connected and entertained. Our home theatre projector and Roku is available for you to stream your favourite shows on any of your streaming channels.
When bedtime arrives, you’ll have your choice of two+ bedrooms. The master bedroom, with a full sized closet and a comfy double bed, or a second bedroom with a twin bed, and….for extra guests an impressively comfortable double air mattress, complete with an electric air pump! Roughing it never felt so good!
There are 2 bathrooms, one on each level. Bathe or shower in the main floor bathroom while upstairs you’ll enjoy using a soaker tub, complete with epsom salts and candle to unwind after a day out exploring.
In house laundry with laundry necessities are at your finger tips. The 2 car garage can protect your vehicle or any other fun stuff you bring.
As we are new on the scene, we have more rooms that have yet to be outfitted. Want to maintain your yoga routine – bring your mat, we’ve got a room for that. Kids, play room? You bet – on the second floor a pint sized room ready for block building, game playing or reading.

We’ve done the cruise and were delighted to see whales, along with other marine mammals and birds.
* Kejimkujik National Park:
Kejimkujik (or Keji for short!) features abundant lakes and rivers ideal for canoeing. The lush woodlands and rolling landscape are home to a variety of wildlife and visitors may enjoy historic canoe routes including portages as well as many beautiful hiking trails.
Parks Canada says that Kejimkujik provides the best canoeing country in Nova Scotia. You don't have to be an experienced canoe handler to enjoy the quiet lakes and gently flowing rivers as guided canoe outings are given throughout the summer by park interpreters. This is also an ideal place for first time canoers or children to learn how to pilot these vessels.
Cyclists may use their own bikes or rent one and then enjoy the 5 multi purpose trails in the park. For those that prefer the security of their own two feet, Keji offers a trail for everyone.
Festivals and Other Activities:
* Largest annual gathering of Acadians each late July/early August
* Gran Fondo Bike Race in September! Bienvenue!
* St. Mary's University
* Blue's Festival
* Belliveau Cove Saturday Market
* Lots of local musical talent to sample
* hunting and fishing
And of course…. Seafood. Whether you want to treat yourself at one of the local restaurants or buy it fresh at the nearby fishery and cook at “home” the choices are many.
We are hosting while our home is for sale. We are confident that you will enjoy your stay with minimal disruptions. At the outside chance that there is a potential showing during your stay, we will give you at least 2 days notice. Showings are often in the afternoon when guests are out and about. We appreciate your help in this.

About the host
Hosted by Murray Bevan

Frances and Murray, live in Port Stanley, Ontario. Through Murray's restoration project of this Acadian home, first Murray and then Frances fell in love with the people and surrounding area. We recently stayed in the house ourselves while tripping in the province and loved living in the house for the nearly two weeks we spent here. We were able to participate in some Acadian festival activities, including the parade and took advantage of some local music. We believe that we can offer people a great place to stay while enjoying many activities which are close or while visiting family or working temporarily in the area. We just want someone to enjoy the space and the local area as we have come to ourselves. Welcome to Concession!
What makes this property unique
This home at 3597 Second Division Rd. was built in 1837 at the time that Acadians were coming back to the province. It has housed so many families and served as a bakery for the area that so many neigbours reminisced about as the restoration was being completed.
The original portions of the house excuding the back three bedrooms is made with post and beam, balloon construction techniqes which are still visible in the exposed wall in the back hallway and two semi-exposed posts in the kitchen . Three of the original doors on the second floor have been restored and complement the softwood floors that we were able to keep. One softwood floor was also saved in the laundry and back mudroom area.
The home is otherwise fully renovated with new wiring throughout, largely new plumbing, new roof, windows and doors, staircases, and blown-in insulation. The number and positioning of the windows encourages a bright, breezy space. The new ducted heatpump cools efficiently on those hotter days and keeps the house cozy during the colder months.
