About this property
Mangatutu Fishing Hut
Mangatutu Fishing Hut is in the Pātoka farming district, and an hour from Napier in the Hawke’s Bay region.
Nestled on the banks of the Mangatutu River, our restored fishing hut offers a tranquil escape for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of nature. Known for its trout, the Mangatutu river is at your doorstep, providing the perfect base for a fishing adventure or a peaceful retreat.
Our property was deeply impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle and while the scars remain, we have worked hard to restore the hut and surrounding landscape.
The hut offers comfort and simplicity:
A king-sized bed inside the hut, complete with full linen.
A cosy one-bedroom cabin with a queen bed, complete with full linen.
Additional space inside the hut on the mezzanine floors for 5 people, with mattresses provided (bring your own sleeping bags and pillows). Children 8 years and under cannot sleep here for safety reasons.
You’ll enjoy the convenience of running hot and cold water, as well as solar power to keep everything running smoothly. Amenities include a flushing toilet, an indoor shower and an outdoor shower for that rustic touch. A BBQ is ready for your use and for evenings, gather around the outdoor fire pit (the fire pit cannot be used during fire bans).
*Bring your own bath towels and food supplies, but we’ve got the basics covered.
Beyond the hut, you’re just 50 minutes from the Mangatutu Hot Springs in the stunning Kaweka Range, offering even more ways to explore and unwind during your stay.
This is a spot where the river sings, and the land tells its story. Guests are welcome to enjoy the river at their leisure.
Ready to create memories surrounded by nature? Book your stay now!
Track to and from the hut is AWD or 4WD access only.
If you get to the cattle yards, you have gone too far.
Other things to note
• You must not drive through the farm, other than the access track into and out of Mangatutu Fishing Hut.
• Our hut is located on an active farm, you may encounter both natural and man-made hazards. By entering the property, you acknowledge that you and your guests do so at your own risk.
• You must leave any gates that are closed, closed, and latched behind you.

About the host
Hosted by Beckie

Kia ora and welcome!
Becoming a host was a natural choice for me. I really enjoy sharing a little slice of our world with others and creating a space where guests can relax, unwind, and feel at home. I know how important it is to have a place that’s welcoming and comfortable when you’re away, and it makes me happy to provide that experience for people.
Hosting is also a way for me to meet new people and connect with travellers who appreciate the beauty of New Zealand. I’m proud of the property and the work that’s gone into making it a special spot, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

What makes this property unique
For me, the Mangatutu Fishing Hut is not just accommodation, it’s a place to share what I love most about this corner of New Zealand. It’s where family and friends gather, stories are told around the fire, and people leave feeling refreshed and reconnected. Hosting here means I get to invite others into that experience, and it’s always rewarding to see guests enjoy it as much as I do.
