About this property
Oceanfront Getaway: Sunsets, Sauna & Tropical Gardens (Pet Friendly)
If you love big skies and sweeping ocean views, you’ve found the right place. Escape to our Californian-style retreat, tucked amid a lush tropical garden of palms and banana trees on the Pacific Coast. Facing southwest, this hidden gem offers uninterrupted views across the Salish Sea and Savary Island, where sunrises, sunsets, moonrises, starlit skies, distant islands, and coastal mountains create an ever-changing panorama you’ll never tire of. The spacious, fully self-contained 3-bedroom suite occupies the entire ground level of our modern home, offering about 1,200 sq. ft. of open-concept living with panoramic ocean views. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas, one bathroom with walk in shower, and laundry. The suite stays naturally cool in the summer with plenty of shade with the covered deck. A few steps from the suite is “The Beach Shack”, a versatile 4th bedroom or flex space near the sauna and outdoor shower. It features its own TV, sink, fridge, and private deck, with a comfy double pull-out bed - perfect for yoga, meditation, a quiet reading nook, or a workstation. Outdoor Living: Under a 40’ x 20’ covered deck, you can lounge with a firepit, BBQ, and dine privately while taking in the ever-changing coastal panorama. A flat grassy area in front is ideal for games or simply stretching out in the sun. Off the Bunkie, a sundeck invites you to savour golden sunsets over the ocean. There is a tropical sitting area among the towering banana & palms trees with the relaxing sound of water from the fountains nearby. Concrete steps with a solid metal railing lead down to the beach level, where another flat grassy area features a beach sitting area with gas and wood firepits - perfect for wildlife watching, sunsets, or stargazing. The beach is rocky but walkable and swimmable, so bring a paddleboard or floaties and dive into the adventure. The electric wood barrel sauna in the tropical garden is a guest favourite - enjoy a hot steamy session, then cold cycle with the tropical outdoor shower or an invigorating ocean plunge. Off-Season Magic: The shorter days in fall and winter bring a special kind of beauty to the coast. Witness dramatic skies, glowing sunsets, and silvery moonrises reflected on the ocean. Storm watching is a cozy pastime here — the eagles love to play in the wind. Heated mattress covers keep the beds toasty, and the gas fireplace creates a perfect spot to curl up with a book or movie from our small curated library. Powell River’s mild rainforest climate means hiking and mountain biking are enjoyable year-round. The waterfalls you will pass will be full of life. The Area: We are in a perfect tourist location. Just 10 min up the road is the famous Nancy's bakery. Known for their creative variety of fresh baked cinnamon buns this is a favourite of locals and tourists alike. Lund is quant and has galleries, a pub and restaurant to explore. The 10min south and you are in historic Townsite where you can enjoy a craft brew at Townsite Brewing and do walking tour of the historic buildings including the oldest operational movie theatre The Patricia. This region is an outdoor recreation mecca. Nearby you’ll find 180km of world-class hut to hut hiking on the Sunshine Coast Trail, amazing mountain biking at Mt Mahony, paddle on the ocean or explore the 32 lakes in the region, rock climbing at the Eldred Valley, a variety of boating and fishing spots. Savary Island — visible from the property — is a favourite day trip. There are many beaches including ours for beachcombing. Local farmers markets, artisans, and cultural spots round out the experience. Ask us for recommendations or check out our Local’s Guide on Airbnb for ideas. Your Hosts: Despite the sense of privacy in nature, you’ll be sharing our 1.25-acre property with us (Nancy & Tony) and our two friendly dogs, Harley (friendly little rescue) and Lenny (our active teenaged Nova Scotia Duck Toller). We live on the upper floor of the property. We value your privacy and will keep the dogs close unless invited to say hello. We host only one group at a time to ensure your stay feels peaceful and uniquely yours.
