The Preston - Sunset Coastal Retreat

Envisaging relaxing on the deck watching the sunset over the ocean after a morning at the beach? Escape to The Preston, a stylish 3-bed, 2-bath coastal retreat walking distance to the beach.

Relax on the sundeck watching the sunset or local fauna, enjoy the open-plan living area, and cook in the fully equipped kitchen.

The Preston is perfect for families, couples, or small groups, with air-conditioning, WiFi parking, nearby beaches, walking trails, and fishing spots.

🏡 The Space

The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals for family and friends, complete with all essential appliances. If you’d rather eat out, Footprints Resort nearby serves great food and drinks on weekends.

It’s an easy walk to the General Store (10 minutes) and Preston Beach (12 minutes or a 3-minute drive). The area offers walking trails, viewing platforms, boardwalks, and excellent fishing spots. Preston Beach is one of the few beaches where 4WD access is permitted right along the coast.
Enjoy swimming, beachcombing, or casting a line — local catches include whiting, herring, tailor, and salmon (in season), as well as the famous Shovelnose. Nearby picnic areas feature free BBQs, playgrounds, and shaded lawns perfect for families.
Nestled halfway between Mandurah and Bunbury (about 45 minutes each way), Preston Beach offers the best of both worlds — close enough for day trips, yet tranquil and unspoiled. Surrounded by Yalgorup National Park, the area is a haven for native wildlife, birdwatching, and scenic trails.

Originally from Perth, I feel fortunate to have been introduced to beautiful Preston Beach just 90 minutes south of Perth. This unique location offers a sense of seclusion and calm, creating the perfect retreat from the outside world. After spending 20 years living in Canada, I enjoy welcoming guests to The Preston and sharing a space that blends relaxed living with a deep connection to nature. My aim is to ensure every stay feels effortless, restorative, and truly special.

Why they chose this property

I chose Preston Beach for its rare combination of natural beauty, strong community spirit, and exceptional location. The area is known for its family-orientated atmosphere and peaceful way of life, making it an ideal place to relax and recharge. With Western Australia’s stunning coastline just moments away and Yalgorup National Park on our doorstep, Preston Beach offers a unique balance of coastal living and protected wilderness. This setting provides a sense of privacy, calm, and connection to nature that perfectly reflects the retreat experience I wanted to create at The Preston.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property truly unique is the sense of privacy combined with breathtaking natural surroundings. Guests can enjoy uninterrupted sunset views over the ocean, with expansive coastal vistas that create a peaceful and restorative atmosphere. Native fauna are part of the everyday experience here, with kangaroos, emus, skinks, cockatoos, and colourful parrots often seen right on the doorstep. This rare connection to nature, paired with the tranquillity of the setting, offers an immersive escape that feels both exclusive and deeply grounding.
