About this property
Beachside Kiwi Bach at Glinks Gully - pet friendly!
A true beachfront kiwi bach just 2.5 hours north of Auckland City. 2 bedrooms downstairs and a large private upstairs bedroom (external access) with a California king bed and ensuite bathroom.
We often have beautiful sunsets here. Sit on the deck and listen to the sound of the ocean. No internet but plenty of DVDs, books and games, plus a 25 metre waterslide! A stunning location behind the sand dunes of Ripiro Beach (NZ's longest driveable beach) in the small holiday settlement of Glinks Gully.
Our bach comfortably sleeps 7 in beds plus we have a pullout sofa-bed and a few mattresses and a portacot. Price per night is based on a group of up to 7. $40 extra per person per night for any extra people.
We have a bike, bodyboards, beach toys etc and plenty of outdoor seats including an umbrella and swing seat for the deck. There are swings close-by for the kids and a path to the beach right opposite our house.
The kitchen has just about everything you would need (oven, fridge and all small appliances including an espresso coffee machine). Complimentary tea and coffee. We have a fairly large hot water cylinder but we recommend conserving water.
No shops here but it’s a 10 min beach-drive to Baylys Beach (surf lifesaver patrolled in summer and a shop with takeaways and bar). 20 mins to Dargaville which has plenty of shops.
A few points to note:
The beach is not patrolled and can be dangerous to swim (we recommend staying waist deep on an incoming tide) and cars regularly drive up and down the beach. 4WD is recommended for driving on the beach (but we do it in a 2WD)! It is often wild and wavy being a west coast beach but at times it can be as still as a lake. This is a basic bach, insects and all! The downstairs bedrooms currently have no doors or powerpoints and the walls don't extend up to the ceiling. We do have extension cords leading in to the bedrooms though. The deck is due to be replaced and does have a few loose planks. We have a fan in each bedroom as it gets hot in summer.
