About this property

Yellow House-minutes from the park, beach, and walking trail-Pet Friendly

Lockeport, Nova Scotia is a quiet town. At night, step onto the back deck and look at the stars. Leave your window open and listen to the waves crashing on the beach. By day, play catch with your dog in the fenced backyard, or make a coffee and read on the deck. Listen to the birds, look at the bees, or watch the seagulls sitting on a nearby roof. Go for a run in town, along the beach, or, on the rail trail into the woods. Take the kids to the park and get in a mini-workout on the adult fitness equipment incorporated into the new playground.

We love our house because it is in a small town. Lockeport is a hidden gem that we discovered aver 16 years ago when on holiday from Toronto, where we used to live.
There is a general store, pharmacy, liquor store, a couple of seasonal restaurants and a library within 2-3 blocks of the house. Beaches? There are three walkable from the house. One block over is a brand new playground, and next to that is the fire hall and outdoor stage where they host the yearly Harmony Bazaar music festival.

About the host

Host profile image
We are high school teachers who moved from Toronto to Halifax over ten years ago to try something different. We run an academic summer camp, Debate Camp Canada, and a used bookstore, Agricola Street Books in Halifax.

Why they chose this property

We found Lockeport when we were on holiday and we fell in love with the area. The beach was a big draw, but also the idea that we could live in a small town that has a lot of amenities and things to do-even a library!

What makes this property unique

We keep things simple. We decorated with a lot of wood, muted colours, and simple furniture. You can't help but feel relaxed when you enter the house. It has everything you need for a summer home base for a few nights or a week long stay.
