About this property

Lake view/Private farm/ King bed/ Salmo-Fruitvale

Wake up to goats grazing outside your large front window and enjoy your morning coffee on the wrap around deck overlooking beautiful Erie Lake and a charming historic red barn. This 1-bedroom country cottage with a king sized bed sits on 16 acres, offering the perfect blend of farm charm, comfort, and adventure. Feed the animals and enjoy the mountains. The owners live on the same property. Located directly off of Highway 3 for easy access.

The guest cottage is a private, stand-alone unit located across a small bridge and seasonal creek from the main house, offering a private stay. There are no neighboring properties on either side of the land.

Feel free to roam the property and explore. Unfortunately, due to the age of the red barn and safety concerns, the inside is off limits—but you’re welcome to take photos from the outside.

Please do not enter the animal enclosures, however, they are all friendly and love pets and treats through the fence. You’re welcome to enjoy the plentiful fruit trees when in season, or cross the highway to access a beautiful trail and short 8 minute walk that leads down to the lake.

Please note: the property is located just off of Highway 3. Some traffic noise may be heard. We are 5 minutes West of Salmo and 12 minutes East of Fruitvale. The host also runs a business from the main home so there are a few vehicles coming and going from the property during the week. This does not impact the cottage as it is a separate dwelling. Drinking/cooking water is provided as the cottage is fed with creek water. This is an active farm with daily chores being performed on the property. Early check in is often possible if the suite is ready. Please message the host to check if interested. The cottage stays quite cool in the summer but there is a fan provided if needed.

A very efficient modern cabin.Received our dog and recommended off leash walking to the lake. The cabin included wifi,tv and special treats.Expectations were laid out in a manual.Theproperty is spectacular and so are all the animals.Learnt some of the history and workings of the property. The hosts were ready to accommodate ours circumstances.Wish I had been able/ had more time,to interact with the animals and take photos. Can highly recommend a stay here.

We moved to the beautiful Kootenays 3 years ago from the Fraser Valley in hopes of a simpler more intentional life. We landed on this beautiful property and have been working to revitalize it. We love to be out in nature and working on the land with the animals and garden. I hope to share this little piece of paradise with others.

Why they chose this property

Land and community. Plenty of hiking trails and ski hills. Nelson offers great restaurants and night life.

What makes this property unique

Lake view and farm animals. Central location 30 minutes from Nelson, Castlegar and Trail.
