Wattledene at Inman Valley – Hempcrete Cottage on Heysen Trail w/ Breakfast
***All guests are welcomed with a lovely bottle of SA wine and chocolate***
Welcome to “Wattledene,” a freshly completed eco-cottage nestled in a deep, wooded valley right where the Inman Valley meets Myponga. If you love fresh country air, peace and quiet, and sustainable living, this space is your perfect slice of heaven. Just keep in mind that this is a shared country property, the owners, Barb and Berk, live on-site in the main house with their two lovely dogs, so while you’ll have your own private cottage and cosy deck space to relax in, you’re stepping into the warm, easygoing rhythm of a real country block. Crafted using innovative Hempcrete, the cottage embraces an ideology of recycling, reusing, and repurposing to create a modern, comfortable space that treads lightly on the earth and stays naturally cool in summer and snug in the cooler months.
Set on a gorgeous acre of land, the property is shared with a thriving vegetable patch, a glasshouse, and a few friendly chooks. The true star of the yard is a magnificent, centuries-old River Red Gum that casts beautiful, dappled shade over the grounds, surrounded by native wattles that fill the valley. It is an absolute paradise for nature lovers and walkers, positioned perfectly along a stunning section of the famous Heysen Trail. For those who like to start the day with some gentle movement, yoga mats are available for your use, so you can roll one out on the deck and enjoy a peaceful stretch surrounded by the sounds and fresh air of the valley.
Inside this cosy bedsit-style retreat, you will find a bright, welcoming living space centred around a comfortable three-seater couch and armchair. The north-facing sliding doors and southern bedroom windows frame lovely views of the rolling hills and countryside. Unwind in front of the smart TV, which features streaming apps, and stay connected with the complimentary Wi-Fi. For your comfort, the main room has a ceiling fan for warmer days and a portable heater for when the temperature drops.
The neat kitchen comes equipped with everything you need for a relaxing getaway, including a portable induction cooktop with pots and pans, an air fryer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and a coffee plunger. Wake up to a proper country breakfast, too: every booking includes the makings of a hearty morning cook up including eggs, bacon, bread, mushrooms and tomatoes, with eggs fresh from our own chooks.
When it’s time to wash off the day’s adventures, the main bathroom offers a clean, modern shower and a hairdryer. As the cottage runs on rainwater, we ask guests to keep showers to a reasonable length.
Every Pet Let stay includes the Perks Pack: an exclusive bundle of discount offers at local businesses worth over $200. From spa sessions to dining and local activities, its extra value is built in so you can get the most out of your holiday budget.
Bedroom Configuration (Sleeps 2): Main Bedroom: Queen Bed (Sleeps 2)
The beds will be freshly made for your arrival with sheets, pillowcases, and quilt covers. Bath towels, mats, hand towels, and tea towels are all supplied.
Anything you need Barb and Berk are right on-site and always happy to help. If you need anything at all during your stay, just give Barb a call or pop up to the main house and knock on the door. Barb is also a qualified caterer and can prepare additional home cooked meals with a day’s notice, and she offers a handy drop-off and pick-up service for walkers heading out on the Heysen Trail. Just ask and she’ll sort out the details.
100% Pet Friendly – Please Read We’d love to welcome your furry friends, and we just ask that you keep in mind this is a shared space. Barb and Berk have two friendly, free-range dogs of their own, Bear and Rosie, who roam the open grounds, and there are no front gates or secure fences anywhere on the property. Your pet will be sharing open space with the resident dogs and free-range chooks, so this setup suits sociable, easygoing dogs best. If your pet is nervous around other animals or a flight risk, please keep them on a lead or on the enclosed verandah, where a grass tray is provided.
Please note that this property is not available for Schoolies bookings and does not accept 25 December Arrival/Departure.
