We had 7 close friends staying together and it worked well. Guest guide was thorough and house well stocked with supplies-even those we expected to provide for ourselves.Large dining table worked for meals if we brought a folding chair in from patio for an extra seat. Only issue was lingering pet dander that impacted our most sensitive guests when hanging out in room with couches. couches.danderwedid
Very clean and comfortable house. Walking distance to bars and restaurants in Ottawa, and short drive to hiking trails. We loved Ottawa and the surrounding area. The chickens were an added bonus!
The location is good, but if you have 6 adults the one room with twin beds is pretty uncomfortable. The rocking chair toilet offers a unique experience. The kitchen was well stocked and the dining room table is perfect for 6. Overall good experience.
This was our first trip to Starved Rock and we enjoyed our stay in this clean and comfortable home near downtown Ottawa and the State Park. Planning to return again this fall for a longer stay!
This was an adorable and very comfortable home, near the very cool downtown Ottawa area. It was clean and had plenty of amenities available. I would stay here again next time I want to spend some time in Ottawa.
We took our two Goldens to the Starved Rock area. We enjoyed our stay and had plenty of room and everything we needed. Our property manager was very available for any questions and we appreciated everything! We’ll be back.
We had everything we needed and were close to a grocery store for the rest. The house was clean and had plenty of towels. It’s close enough to Starved Rock State Park, which was a neat visit, to have extra outdoor stuff to do. Good area for walking. Dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and spacious. My kids enjoyed interacting with and feeding scraps to the chickens. Overall, great spot to stay if you want to meet family or friends in Illinois outside of Chicago.
The house is in a nice location convenient to downtown Ottawa. Plenty of room to spread out. The cute kitchen had all the utensils/appliances we needed. The chickens in the back were great fun, and we took advantage of the delicious fresh eggs!
One thing to be aware of, if you have motility issues: the steps into the living room are very steep! But overall things were great and we recommend a stay here!
Great place for 2 couples or less the house is not set up for more than four adults.
The listing was beautiful, the space was nice, and the host was great. The problem comes where it’s listed as a three bedroom or more and that they can sleep up to 12 people. That’s just not accurate. I had two other couples planning on staying with us and splitting the cost but when we found out it was a couch bed with a quarter inch thick mattress and two children’s beds, In the other two rooms, we quickly realized that it was not going to be split between four couples. instead, it doubled my cost. I just want some accuracy of these dang listings. I get you’re selling a listing, and you wanted to look nice, but dammit be honest. House should be great for two couples and a whole bunch of kids, but no more than four adults can stay comfortably in this house.
Charming home with a wonderful living room full of windows to look into the backyard. It is big room to visit with friends and family. The master bedroom is private from the additional two bedrooms. You can walk to a grocery store, neighborhood bar, downtown restaurants and the river! The home was very clean and had the essentials for cooking. Wonderful hosts and the chickens were a bonus to watch and enjoy. We will definitely rent this home again when we come back to Ottawa!
The location is great, the house was a perfect setup for our family. The kids enjoyed the chickens and we enjoyed the eggs. The house was updated, clean and convenient to town.
Traveling with two families (5 adults, one teenager) was made so much easier staying at this beautiful home. Close to downtown Ottowa and Starved Rock State Park, the location is perfect. Plenty of space, fully stocked amenities, and gracious hosts make this a perfect place to stay if you are visiting the area. The communication from the host prior to and during the stay was the best experience staying in a VRBO to date.
This was a very cozy property that was very convenient to all of the activities we wanted. The perfect place to relax after a busy hiking day. The chickens were a vast source of entertainment for our 8 year old as well as the rest of us! Checking for eggs everyday was a memory he will cherish forever! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us!
We spent a few days at this property to relax and explore the Starved Rock area. The property was very comfortable and close to many wonderful things. The hosts were very responsive, too. The resident hens were an added bonus and the kids loved interacting with them and collecting eggs. I would recommend!
This house was exactly what we all needed it to be. We spent most of the day gone during our convention, but coming home, sleeping, showering and having a quiet place to end up was everything we could ask for. Local people who were in town for the convention were stunned at this little diamond we had found. We WILL be back! Everyone has raved about it.
And food delivery is fast, the town is cute and has some lovely places to eat/drink and shop.
With the exception of a delayed check-in we had a fantastic stay. This property had a ton of amenities and made it feel very home like. Being able to eat fresh eggs was a plus! Of note they stayed in an RV on the driveway. It didn't interfer with our stay but would have been nice to know prior to arrival. Overall would stay again!
My husband and our two boys stayed in the Main Street house to go hiking at the area state parks. So nice to come home to the comforts of home: two clean bathrooms, three bedrooms, full-sized kitchen, and a spacious media room. The hostess was so accommodating! We enjoyed saying hello to the chickens in the coop and collecting eggs in the morning! Found several great restaurants in the downtown area.
We really enjoyed our stay! The space is comfortable, clean, and well-equipped with all the supplies guests need. The host was super helpful and responsive.
