Worst Rental Exp
Type of stay that’s pushing travellers back to hotels.
Booking Process-
Security deposit included a non-refundable processing fee. Feels like a cost the host should bear or include in overall fee.
Service -
Host non-responsive once booked. If there was a response it was short, rude, and unhelpful. Only polite when I let them know I’d paid the security deposit.
Told me to google my questions. Including questions about safety.
Location -
Lots of boarded-up shop windows, car break-ins (our car was rummaged through even in parking garage)
Check In-
Keys in lock box across busy street and a block away. Multiple lock boxes at location, no description from host to help.
Apt –
The common area of the building is dirty.
Nonfunctioning elevator not clear when booked (updated since). 3 flights of steep stairs with luggage, buggy, pregnant wife, toddler. Check-in instructions state “apt is on the 3 floor on the right when exiting the elevator” which is misleading.
Apt boiling hot on arrival. Normal not leaving the AC on all the time, but AC is weak and takes time to cool the apt so expect hot first night.
Bedding was rough, uncomfortable. Pillows flat.
1.5 rolls of TP for 3 ppl for 3 nights and no hand soap in the bathrooms or apt.
The shower was moldy, no door, water spilt everywhere. Major slipping hazard. 3 hotel bottles of shampoo only products provided.
Check Out –
Paid cleaning fee - still had to strip beds, take the trash out, clean dishes, leave apt clean.
