List is either a scam or an error

I got to the property late at night. There was no gate code given, but someone let us in. We get to the apartment. I realize the host gave 2 different apartment numbers, neither of which had a lockbox on them to get the keys to the apartment. Couldn't reach the host. Finally got through to VRBO who were able to reach a contact for the apartment. He said he wasn't using VRBO any more. Someone was living in both apartments, so clearly they weren't being rented out. Not sure why this listing is even still up here.

Do. Not. Book. This. Listing.

We booked this place several weeks in advance. We wanted to add an additional day, so I contacted the host through the app to request an extension. They never answered. I texted again a few days later. No response. I called the contact number. Voicemail. Finally, after driving over 8 hours to get there the day we were to check in we found the directions to the property correct, but the building number was wrong. The directions to get the key were wrong. I stood outside the door and knocked. No answer. I again called the listed contact number, this time I got an answer, but the guy said he'd had that number for two weeks and didn't know anything about the property. Fortunately for my now stranded family I was able to work through Vrbo to cancel this booking and get a refund. Other than the host unexpectedly being in a coma or recently deceased, there is NO excuse for total lack of communication and inaccurate phone numbers. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING.
