About this property
Heights Treehouse Loft, an Economical Alternative to a Hotel Suite
A Private Property with dedicated private parking for two cars, a Private mid-level deck and use of the brick patio with lights, wood-burning firepit and rockers.
The Heights Treehouse Loft is designed for persons accustomed to fine, comfortable living and who are in need of short- or long-term quarters. The loft is furnished with one of a kind, high end, comfortable antiques and Asian rugs. Every comfort and detail have been attended to, complete with a fully stocked chef's kitchen with gas range and dishwasher, and white glove clean!
Nestled among soaring Magnolia and Pecan trees in the heart of Houston's most Historic and sought after neighborhood, The Heights Treehouse Loft recalls turn of the Century nostalgia on a double sized lot. Enjoy a neighborhood with front porches attached to Craftsman bungalows and Victorian mansions on tree lined, quiet streets. Houston Heights was founded in 1886 and has never lost it's small town allure. You are eight miles from Downtown, 20 minutes from the largest Medical Center in the world and two blocks walking distance from famous 19th Street with its many outdoor restaurants and charming shops. You are two blocks from historic Heights Boulevard, where people enjoy daily walking in the outdoors; two miles from White Oak Bayou where you can explore endless biking/walking trails leading to Downtown and winding all over Houston. There is easy freeway access.
The Loft evokes the serenity of a bygone era. With an adjacent sprawling pecan tree, The Loft has 25 tall windows, 11 in the living room alone; 12 foot high genuine stamped tin ceilings, ship lap solid wood walls, painted wood floors, extensive wood trim, plantation doors and painted wood cabinets created by a master carpenter. The angular walls and high ceilings add a unique spaciousness; the most common response to the sunroom is "treehouse".
It is old-style, but new construction with central air conditioning, copper water lines, claw foot slipper tub with rain shower and tile walls. It includes a full size washer & dryer, Bosch dishwasher, Kitchen Aid gas stove with double ovens, farmhouse sink, custom cabinets, double door refrigerator with ice and water in the door. There is a full pantry with every appliances to make any special dinner for up to four people: bone china, special wine glasses, food processor, mixer, two coffee pots, toaster, tea maker and blender.
Constructed in the architecture of the period, but new, The Loft stands alone behind the original 1919 Heights residence. There have been only two owners of the property in 100 years. Paying homage to the original owners, Annie and Fred, who moved into the residence in 1919 after Annie told Fred that she would not marry him until he built her a house. Widowed in her 30's, Annie never had children and she never remarried; Fred was her guy. She lived to be 106.
Minimum of four weeks, also available for longer term rental; no long term contract required. Bi-weekly housekeeping included plus all utilities; cable TV with Netflix and high speed internet from AT&T, fully furnished with fine cotton linens.
