About this property
Hilltop 4BR - Fabulous Water Views - Near Beaches
Open, airy, light-filled 4-bedroom house (one currently used as an office) with spectacular, 180-degree views of Long Island Sound. Located in the West Shore neighborhood of West Haven, CT-- 15 minutes from New Haven and Yale--the house features a large Sound-facing deck, bay windows, and window seats, an open plan living room, dining room, and kitchen, and driveway parking. The wide, sandy, almost unknown and barely populated West Haven beaches are a mere 7-minute walk (or 2-minute drive) down the hill. Pet-friendly, ideal for a couple or a family, ideal for a sabbatical. If you want it past May 31, that's negotiable too.

About the host
Your host
We are empty nesters, a professor and a minister, and we bought this place as a retirement home, but ended up living here full-time once the virus hit. But our lives have taken a turn, and will now be living across the Sound in Orient, NY. So this has been our home, and we think of it that way, and would expect guests to treat it as someone's home.
Why they chose this property
We've lived in a LOT of houses over the years, and this is the once with the most light, the most open floor plan, and the easiest to live in. We built gardens this spring and summer, and if you're a gardener, you may enjoy them next spring as well.
What makes this property unique
The beaches of West Haven are undiscovered for the most part, rarely crowded, and very shallow, making them ideal for young children. Views of the Sound are spectacular from the deck, dining area, living room, main bedroom, and my study upstairs (which can be converted easily into a bedroom.) There is a LOT of airy, open, light-filled space.
